Hello and Happy Friday!!!
Are you ready for the weekend?? I am! It's going to be a fun time of laying some new flooring in our house! Such a huge project but it looks so good!!

Normally today would be my turn for a Fun Friday post over at Sami Stamps. But sadly, Sami has decided to close up shop temporarily. It's sad to see the store close, but it's for the all important reason so she can spend time with her new baby girl and son. I'm a firm believer that real life comes first in crafting, and if your kids need you, you have to be there for them. I will greatly miss Sami and her adorable images each month! But I look forward to her return someday down the road!

So with that, I still wanted to create one more card to honor Sami.

I searched through my stash of images to find one that fit the current holiday theme, but was also one that I didn't think I had used, and I found this super cute Valentine Rose Feathers birdie. So I got to work on my card.

I started by inking up the background with the Radiating Rays stencil in Spun Sugar distress ink. I am addicted to this stencil right now! Anyone else??

To help make the image pop out a bit more, I added color around the center of the rays as well and let it all fade out to white. Then did a little die cutting with the Simon Says Stamp Sparkling Snowflakes Breeze die, but I didn't want it to have snowflakes. So I cut out a few hearts that fit over the snowflakes and layered them over top. I loved the stitching and swirls in the whole design and felt they still fit with a love themed card as long as I could alter the snowflakes to something else :)

This whole breeze cut panel is layered onto some Fog cardstock from Simon Says Stamp and adhered down over the rays. I printed off my little birdie and cut him into a circle before coloring him up with a mixture of copics and colored pencils. I layered him onto a scallop cut circle and mounted him onto the card, being sure to center him in the rays as well.

Then finished everything off with some shimmer and nuvo drops and the most fitting sentiment from the My Favorite Things From the Heart stamp set, embossing in Liquid Platinum.

I want Sami to know that I do simply adore her and have loved every second of my time on her design team! <3

Is everyone ready for the weekend!? I know I am!
There is one image in this release and she is adorable!! This Little Holly Unicorn will be so cute on Christmas cards this year! You'll love her!

So our challenge for you this month at Sami Stamps is White on White. This one is always such a challenge because I love color. And often my whites will just mush together and lose all detail. So I decided to just keep my card super simple.

I took out a stencil from Simon Says Stamp and covered it with embossing paste. Then sprinkled on a bunch of Silver Pearl embossing powder. I know the name says silver, but when it's melted, it gives a really great whiteish pearl shine, as you can see from my card. While the embossing paste dried, I worked on coloring up my image.

To stick with the white on white theme, I colored up my sweet unicorn to be white with a grey mane, and then colored the berries and leaves their traditional colors. To give her a resting spot, I cut 2 layers of vellum to match the inner design of the stencil and layered them together, white embossing my sentiment on the top layer.

Then just foam mounted everything down and added a few white sequins!

Hello and Happy Friday!
We're starting a new challenge today at Sami Stamps to help welcome Sami's new little girl - Tilly Darlene! Isn't that the sweetest name ever! I'm so happy for Sami and her husband...they truly have the cutest family!

For my card, I chose to use Snuggling my Sweet. This image was totally adorable and I couldn't resist adding it to my card.
I started by doing some tone on tone stamping for the background. I wanted to keep it soft with just a little bit of detail so using shades of pink felt appropriate.

My image is colored in simply with copics and then fussy cut out to be placed onto a white panel that I repeat embossed the word Congratulations across the whole panel. I printed off a super cute sentiment onto vellum and then added everything to my card, accenting it all with some pink and white pearls.

We're also starting a new challenge for November to add a sentiment! I hope you will join us! Just remember to use a Sami Stamps image.

Hello hello!!!! Happy Friday!!!
Who loves unicorns? Pshh...everyone loves unicorns! You are going to love the new Sami Stamps release then! Cuz it's all about unicorns!!

We're also starting a new challenge for this month to Use Bright Colors, which is perfect with these adorable images!

I always think of swirling clouds high up in the sky when I think of unicorns, so I went with that idea for my card today. I used some pinkish purple distress inks and blended them out around a cloud stencil until my entire card front was covered with bright clouds.

Then I layered a few vellum clouds over top and a scallop cut piece of cardstock to help ground my sentiment strip.

I colored up my Rose Unicorn with some pencils and added a ton of shimmer to her mane and tail. Foam mounted her onto my panel and that was it!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous week and is ready for the weekend!!
We went and saw Spiderman Homecoming last night and Oh-My-Gosh! Go See It!! I might be biased since we are a Spiderman loving family....but it was so darn good! Don't get me wrong, I have loved all of the Spiderman movies that have come out in the past. But there was something super special about this one. I'm not sure what it was...maybe it was the meaning behind its title - Homecoming. With Spiderman finally joining the Marvel/Avengers universe, it felt like he had finally made it home in this movie...I don't know. Now I'm rambling about nerd stuff :) Just go see it :)

So for today! We have an adorable new release for you from Sami Stamps! And we're starting a new Anything Goes challenge!!

This release is called Little Bumbles and I've used the Whiskers and Stingers image, which is so cute!
I actually took the time to create a card for a few challenges! It's been so long since I've done anything like that and I kind of missed joining in on some of my favorites.

So I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and threw a sweet shimmery sunset in for the challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

I started with some yellow dotted patterned paper and used a sun ray stencil to add a little bit of Fossilized Amber to the rays as well as some Lemon Sorbet Nuvo Mousse.

Cut and colored a few little hills and then colored up my kitty with some Copics. I layered him onto a vellum cut oval just to give a little frame around him from the scene behind him and then stamped a super cute sentiment from Newton's Nook.

I added a few Nuvo clear drops and that was it! Super simple card and still so adorable!

Why hello there :)
It's been a while! Can I just say that I don't even know what happened to May. It started...then I blinked and it was gone. But believe me...it was packed with adventure! I got to spend a week in Georgia with my sister and niece, soaking up as many snuggles as I could while Matthew traveled off to Spain for work. Then the week after that trip I took part in a 2 day street fair in Seattle. That was only my second ever fair and it was FANTASTIC! I really can't wait to get my little business into more street fairs now!

Then Memorial Day weekend and time spent with friends, and then here we are. Already at June. So lets kick this month off proper with a new challenge at Sami Stamps and some fun inspiration for ya!

I just love this little bow tie from Sami Stamps. It's like my go-to image for Father's Day cards lately. There are so many possible techniques and ideas to use with it. I decided to challenge my coloring a little bit on this one and used an image of an actual bow tie as my guide. Ultimately, I think it turned out amazing! Best bow tie I've ever colored :)

Since it's a Father's Day card, I wanted to keep it relatively simple. You can't really add a lot of bling and jazz to man cards...I think that's why they are so hard to make. Nothing ever feels complete without shimmer and shine! (which I did sneak in there on the "rock" wording :) )

With the card being overall pretty simple, I needed to spice it up a little. So why not add an action wobble!!! I placed one of the mini wobbles behind the bow tie and stuck it down to my front panel. It reminds me of those spinning bow ties that clowns wear to spray people with water. But it's so cool! Really jazzes this card up and makes it a ton of fun!

We have a super gorgeous release for you today from Sami Stamps as well as the start of a new challenge!

This release features some spectacular flowery mermaids that are just perfect to glitz up and put on a card!

I tried some new-to-me products on this card to try and make my mermaid all fancy and sparkly. I used the Spectrum Noir sparkle pens. Now, I've used the clear sparkle pen for quite some time and I love it, but I just picked up a bunch of the colored pens and wanted to give them a try. There weren't many color options with the bunch that I picked up (no green) so I tried blending some of the colors together to get what I wanted. It sort of worked...but I think maybe I need to use different paper to get them to blend better. Regular card stock just doesn't allow things to mix well.

But she turned out gorgeous anyhow and full of sparkle!

I added her to a washy watercolored card front with an oval cut piece of vellum to help her stand out a little bit. Then paired her with a fitting sentiment and a few clear droplets.

Time for a super adorable new Sami Stamps release!!
Our release today is all about April the Giraffe!!! These images are just the cutest!! Sami always gets it right!

For my card, I have used the Shy Flower Giraffe image. I started by coloring the whole image with my markers to get a nice base color. Then came back in with my pencils and added all the shading and details. I love this combo of coloring mediums. I have terrible control with my markers, but pencils work great...getting a nice even blend on larger areas can be challenging with the pencils though. So having that solid base layer with the markers makes the blending out easier since the whole image is already colored.

Our new challenge for this month is to Emboss. So I used a stencil and some embossing paste for my background. I tried to be really loose and messy with it so that the edges were kind of rough and uneven...but I'm too clean and neat for that and it didn't totally turn out how I imagined. But I still love it. The soft texture is just enough detail to make the white on white background pop.

I finished off the card very simply with a couple sentiments from HoneyBee Stamps. The Hello was black embossed onto vellum and trimmed out so that the Lovely flag could be tucked behind it.

I added a black glitter strip and a pinkish/red patterned paper under the sentiments and then a few black enamel dots for fun.

Time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. This week we want to see you add some dimension to your projects! We have a fabulous sponsor this week as well - Sami Stamps!!

I chose to use an older image from Sami Stamps - Flower Bath. I think this was from one of the first releases from when I joined her team. But it is still a beauty and I loved cutting it into layers and putting it all together.

The background is one that I've had sitting on my desk for awhile. It's a soft washy watercolor with the bokeh technique used on top. I cut that out with a stitched rectangle die and added some fun foam to the back of the middle piece. My image was printed off 4 times. One layer I cut out with a rectangle die to be my base and the other 3 images I selectively cut and layered together to give the image some great depth.

Since spring is upon us, I wanted my flower to look like the cute little Crocus' that are popping up in everyone's yards right now. So I picked a nice set of yellow pencils and set to coloring. The flower was really the most coloring needed for this image. The bubbles are simply shaded with some blues to match the background and I used some gamsol to get a really nice smooth finish on them.

To finish the card off, I used the new sentiment set Everyday Greetings from Pretty Pink Posh on a die cut banner and then added the second portion of the sentiment below it, directly onto the card. The bubbles we coated with a generous amount of shimmer and some glossy accents.

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!
It was quite the surprise to wake up to snow on the ground this morning...wasn't really expecting that. But it's been cold enough here that it is a welcome sight. Somehow snow always makes the cold more tolerable.

We are starting a new challenge today at Sami Stamps! This month we want to see you use Circles on your card!

I'll admit...I got everything put on this card and was working on the sentiment before I remembered that we had a challenge...so I had to rework the sentiment a little bit. But it ended up being perfect to put it on a circle and turn it into it's own little embellishment.

To start the card, I embossed the background with the Simon Says Stamp Zig Zag stencil. You need to have one of those rubber embossing mats in order to do this so that the rubber squishes the paper into the stencil. I had to add a few paper shims to get the right pressure, but it turned out perfect!

The 3 little strips are cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles dies and then I did a really light swipe with some blue watercolor to get a brush stroke look for the background.

The images are Love Butterfly and Pretty Flower. I joined them together on my computer and then resized them to fit on those little die cut stripes. Once they were printed, I used some distress inks and watercolored them in, trying to make the flower appear white. I haven't quite figured out how to do that, but I think this one turned out pretty good. Adding a super dark shade to the shadow areas really made the white feeling pop.

I stamped my Hello sentiment onto a 1" circle and then clear embossed the entire thing with a double layer of Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. Finished the whole thing off with a few Sparkling Clear Sequins for just a touch more shine.

It's good to be back to work...though I really enjoyed taking December off. It was awesome having Matthew home with me for a few weeks where we could sleep in and veg out all day...ahh...loved it.

But life must go on and we are now back into the full swing of things. And with that we have a super adorable new release today from Sami Stamps called Snowman Friends! We're also starting our January challenge to add some sparkle! This one should be pretty easy since no card is complete without some shine!

I'm still trying to shake the cobwebs out of my brain to help get my creativity flowing, so decided to keep this card nice and simple with a fun blended background and a simple colored image. I used the Frost and Whiskars image for my card today (of course! I can't resist Sami's kitty images...they're my weakness..)

For the coloring, I pulled out my brand new Prismacolor pencils that Matthew got me!! They are luscious...and might take me a little bit to get used to. But I'm excited to play around with them a bit more and see all the wonderful things they can do!

To finish off the card, I added some little sparkly snowflake dots around the snowman as well as along the snow hills, and then scattered some sequins across the background.

There's a new super cute release out today at Sami Stamps called Fall Skunks! These guys are just so stinkin adorable (haha..)!

I wanted to create a little scene with my cute little Skunk image so I pulled out the Hero Arts Layered Tree set and stamped it out several times before fussy cutting around each tree. Since it's a wooded scene, I decided to do a woodgrain background in dark brown ink stamped onto some kraft cardstock.

I did a gorgeous deep yellow fall blended sky behind the trees and then layered everything together, adding tiny pieces of foam tape behind the tops of a couple of the front trees. Then colored my frame with the dark brown ink that I used for the woodgrain stamp and coated that with a thin layer of shimmer pen.

My little skunk was colored in with my pencils and fussy cut out. I stamped and embossed a fitting greeting onto some vellum and tucked that behind him before adhering the whole thing down to my card.

We're starting a new challenge today at Sami Stamps and it's an easy one! Anything Goes!! The only requirement is that you use a Sami Stamps image!

We don't have a new release for you this time, so the DT has created some fun fall cards using their favorite fall images from Sami's collection. I chose to work with Sunflower Kitty.

I started this card by printing off my image with a super faint outline. I really wanted to do some no-line watercoloring on this adorable little kitty and didn't want a bold black line getting in the way. Once the image was printed, I used some of my Inktense pencils to do some simple coloring on the image. It may be simple, but I think it is just so adorable! I of course had to paint the kitty like my little Cloud...couldn't help myself.

For the background, I wanted to do something fun with a tone on tone design. So I inked up a piece of cardstock in a dark green color and then added some green ink to some embossing paste so that it was just a little bit lighter than the background color. Spread that on through a striped stencil and then sprinkled it with some glitter embossing powder. I set that aside to dry and finished working on my kitty panel.

I trimmed the whole thing on an angle, fussy cutting around the kitty. Then embossed my sentiment on some vellum and wrapped that around the lower portion of my panel.

After the embossing paste had dried, I hit it with my heat tool to set all the glitter embossing powder. Added my kitty panel and a few Sparkling Clear Sequins and that was it!

I haven't done too many Halloween cards this year...which is rare...I love this holiday and usually crank out cards like crazy for it. For whatever reason, this year just hasn't been the same...but when cute images pop up, I have to use them! And that's the case with this latest release from Sami Stamps from last week called Patchwork Halloween.

For my card, I pretty much just cased this awesome Halloween card from Chari Moss. I loved the cloth looking tape in the background with all of her black elements...so decided it would be perfect for this card. The problem was I didn't have any of the surgical tape that she used for the background. So I went on a hunt for it and found some at Target!

I used some Seedless Preserves, Carved Pumpkin, and Peeled Paint on the tape to add some color to the background. Then colored up my images with my colored pencils and mounted them around the sparkly black hill and frame. I did a simple embossed greeting from Lawn Fawn and called it good. It a simple card but still really cute :)

I used a lot of the same products from last weeks card, but this time added ink to the Glass Bead Glitter Gel and then applied it to my card front through a stencil. Pretty fun effect with all the glitter.

We have a super cute release for you today from Sami Stamps called Halloween Hoots! Intrigued? These images are just adorable and perfect for fall!

We are also starting a new challenge for October to Add Texture!

I have used the Witch Hoot image for my card. Started off by inking up a super dark halloween type background using Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot right around the edges. I really wanted to play with the "spooky" theme...though I feel this all turned out more cute that spooky :) But in my attempt to achieve that, I made a galaxy swirl stencil and layered that over my inked up background. Then working one swirl at a time, used white pigment ink and feathered it around the stencil. My goal was to create a hard line on one side of the swirl and then have it fade off.

After that was done, I sprayed the whole thing with shimmer mist and let that dry. Once that was dry, I went back into the galaxy swirls and added both white and glitter dots, concentrating a lot in the center and then scattering them toward the end of the swirl. Since this awesome owl is flying through space, I had to add some clouds to finish off the scene. So I die cut some out and then coated them in a nice thick layer of Faber Castell's Glass Bead Glitter Gel! This is a new to me product, but holy cow!! There is so much sparkle in this stuff! It's easy to work with and clear when it dries! Win!!

Anyhow :) I set the clouds aside to dry since they were going to take a really long time and worked on my image. This cutie is colored in with pencils. Super simple coloring since it is a small image. I stamped and heat embossed my sentiment onto vellum and tucked it behind his little broom and then foam mounted him onto my card. The clouds were still a little wet when I was ready to add them to the card so I zapped them with my heat gun for a bit. That helped the tops dry but the insides were still a little soft.

I love this card so much! There is so much sparkle to the whole thing!! It's gorgeous!!!

I hope your week has been super fabulous! It's been chilly here in Washington! Not sure I'm quite ready for fall, even though it's my favorite time of year. Just doesn't feel like we really had much of a summer. But alas, it's here anyhow!

Today at Sami Stamps we are doing a Think Pink showcase! This means that each image that the DT has used will be half off for the week! These are some super cute images, and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, they will all work perfect for any project!

I decided to reuse an image I had created something for a long time ago. This Butterfly for a Cause image is really sweet and I wasn't totally happy with my first go around with it.

For the first time in what seems like forever, I actually attempted to follow along for some challenges! Both Share Joy and Creative Inspirations have a bingo board this week, so I pulled lines from both to make my card.

I started by using some distress inks and blending them out into a striped background. I started with Squeezed Lemonade, then moved to Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral, and ended with Tattered Rose. I overlapped them just slightly in each stripe so that they had a nice flow between them.

For some extra detail and fun, I took my white gel pen and a sparkle pen and went back over each stripe to add some dots. I tried to concentrate a lot of dots on the top left side of each stripe and then scattered them to the bottom of the stripe. It kind of gives a fun burst feel to each color.

Then I started on my image. I did some super quick coloring with this by creating a mask and used the same colors from the background to blend the color on! It was fast and still looks awesome! To finish it off, I did a little light stippling around the image with some super soft blue colors. I may have gone a little crazy with the dots on this card...but it was too much fun to stop!

The sentiment is from the WPlus9 set Sending Hoping Wishing. I white heat embossed that onto some vellum and then trimmed it out into a double flagged banner. There are some Sparkling Clear Sequins scattered around the card to pull it all together!

I have another super cute card to share with you today featuring one of the images from our newest Sami Stamps release - Little King.

This card was really fun to design and even more fun to put together. I love it when things fall in to place exactly as I want them too!

I started by inking up a sun ray type pattern in the background with Fossilized Amber. This is super easy to do. All you need is a post it note! I found the center of the top side of my card and made that my starting point. Placed my post it note there and then took my ink blender, started on the post it and swiped away from it. This left a darker line right at the edge of the post it that faded away. Picked up the post it and moved it to the left of the line I just did and repeated the process around the whole card front. So gorgeous!

Then I printed off my image and colored it in with some ShinHan markers. I wanted quick and simple and for me, the markers are the easiest for that. The image was cut out with an oval die cut and then I matted it with black and did a scallop vellum frame around that.

To add some detail to the background, I took one of the awesome new dies from the September Hero Arts kit and die cut it a couple times. Then took the same markers I used in my image and colored it all in to sort of look like wheat.

I wanted a really golden feel to this whole card and I think that was pretty well represented! It's all finished off with a black glitter embossed sentiment and some Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Time for another awesome release at Sami Stamps! It's a little early, but let's be honest...everyone is thinking about Christmas right now. It can't be helped :) But that's what makes this next release so awesome! It's titled Noble Little King and is absolutely perfect!

I decided to try my hand at something new. It was a super challenge but in the end, I think it turned out pretty adorable! I used the Our Little King image and turned it into a pop up card! Or pop out...box card? Not sure what you call this :)

I started by inking up my background. I wasn't going for anything fancy, just something that could resemble a night sky. Once I had it all inked, I splattered it with water, dried the whole thing and then went back over it all with a second layer of ink. Then splattered it again with the water. This gave a lot of varied looks to the splatters and gave great texture for the sky. Then I worked on coloring my images.

I wanted to mimic the colors of the sky to give the whole card a nice flow, so I pulled out my colored pencils and gamsol. I wanted to use markers but the colors I have were just off or too bright and didn't match very well. The image is printed twice so that I could cut out sweet baby Jesus and pop Him onto His own layer.

Once everything was colored and cut out, it was time to assemble it all. That was the toughest part and I'm not even sure I could explain how I did it in a way that you'd understand. I folded up the sides of the background and laid each layer next to it in the alignment that I wanted. Then marked where the folds needed to be, folded down flaps and added adhesive. Getting the slots cut out correctly was the hardest part. Normally you just attach the flaps on the inside, but I wanted to hide them on the outside, so I needed to cut openings to slide everything through. Plus getting them lined up properly with each other and straight...lots of work.

But eventually, with the help of my T-ruler, I got everything cut straight and adhered down. I just cut little panels of white cardstock to adhere on the outside of everything to help cover up the ink spots that bled through from the background and the flaps from each pop up panel.
