Morning loves!
We're starting a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown! With school starting up for everyone this month, we're challenging you to use your school colors!
My schooling started off with red and white colors...but then I switched schools and became a panther with green and white colors, much more fitting to me :)
I found this fun paper while out shopping this weekend and knew it would be perfect for this card! Funny enough, it's actually Christmas paper!
Our fabulous sponsor this week is Meljen's Designs and they have provided us with some wonderful images to use on our projects. I chose Professor Owl to use on my card and made it into a gift card holder. The top flap ends right under the embossed panel, but is help in place by the cute sentiment from Create with TLC.
I added a few white dots around the owl and in the upper corner for just a little bit of a final touch...it just needed a little something more.
I hope you will play along with us this week! Be sure to check out the rest of the design teams inspiration! They did a fabulous job, as always! <3
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
The Crazy Challenge #152-Animals
Delicious Doodles #50-Birds of a Feather
Fussy and Fancy #96-Back to School

Hello friends! Happy Thursday to you all! I hope everyone is well...even on this wet and gloomy day here in Montreal...
I've been busy getting some work done since we got back from our small (but much needed) vacation. It seems I have developed a bad habit of making a card, putting it aside to post later, and then forgetting about it...
So this post will contain 3 cards! I can't believe I've been doing that! I noticed my little pile of cards was getting kind of high today and then realized what was happening...I'll have to nip that one in the butt rather quickly!
With Mother's Day this weekend, I was inspired to make one more card. I wanted to make one for the expecting or new Mother's since this is a special day for them.
I used the adorable Ice Cream and Pickles image from Saturated Canary. Such a sweet image. I wanted soft neutral colors for the card so I went with a peach tone. She is colored in with colored pencils. The frame is cut from my Lacy Labels cartridge.
Then I cut out some spiral roses and added some peach glitter to the tips. I think I'm getting pretty good at those things. I've learned to let them loosen or "bloom" once I've quilled them up so they look more open and fuller...the first few I made were quilled so tight they just looked like a blob of paper...lol!
I typed up and printed out the sentiments on my computer. Then added some white paint dots in the corner and around the frame and covered those with the peach glitter. There is also some glitter in her hair...just enough so she has a little glow.
The inside is very simple with the Mother's Day sentiment.

My next card is for Father's Day.
I was attempting to follow the sketch at Mojo Monday and it sort of worked out, but the subway art (found at A Proffittable Life and available in a few different colors) ended up being so much bigger than I expected it to be that it left little room for the other elements. But I had to use that image. It fit so perfectly...especially for my dad. How many times have you heard all of those quotes? They are forever embedded in my brain!
This card is entered in the following challenges:

This last card was so much fun creating! I got the inspiration from a couple of cards I saw using the Taylored Expressions Green Acres stamp set.
One of our cousins is graduating high school this year. Makes me feel old...he was our ring bearer in our wedding! And now he's graduating!! Ugh...but he loves farming and plans to make that his life...so when I saw the Green Acres stamp set, it sparked some ideas. I cut out the tractor from the My World cartridge and then cut some hay with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, inked the edges with a golden yellow ink pad and layered them around the tractor. It turned out so cute! And it makes me smile :)

I'm back for my second post today! I love getting cards done, makes me feel productive :)
This card I actually completed 2 days ago, but just put the finishing touches on it to fully complete it.
It's a pocket card that, originally, was going to be a graduation card, but I decided to leave off the graduation cap so it wasn't specific to just graduation.
I cut the owl from my Cricut Create-a-Critter cartridge, drew in the eyes and added green glitter to it's feathers and the leaves of the branch.
For the strap across the front, I got the idea from an image I found on Pinterest, but didn't pin it and now can't find that item...so I had to go from memory.
I realized after putting it all together that buttons would have worked better for the string tie than brads...but I don't have any buttons so I did the best I could with the brads. I left a little gap underneath them so the cord would fit when wound up.
Once the string is unwound, the straps open up and the card flips open.
I forgot to make some "fake money" so I used a piece of journal paper to represent the money pocket :)
I added some brown stitching to the scalloped border to give it some detail. This card turned out great, and I really like it! I hope to make more of them for other occasions since it's so cute!
This card is entered in the following challenge:
Charisma Cardz #11-Pocket Card
For my next card, I went black and white with a touch of color:
It's a really simple card, but so elegant :) I cut out the black frame around the image with my cricut and then used some scalloped scissors on all the panels to mimic the black frame.
I colored in the bluebell image with my pencils, then added some silver paint dots around the frame and on the sentiment panel.
I added a butterfly from my awesome find at the dollar store. Had a little trouble getting it attached...since it's normally on a stick, there ends up being a knob on the back causing there not to be a flat part to attach to the card. So I used some liquid glue to attach a small piece of cardstock so that would create a flat surface. I realize now that using hot glue would have worked better...but pulling out my glue gun would have been a lot of work...I chose the lazier route :)
This card is entered in the following challenges:
Pixie Cottage #113-Sketch (Easter/Spring)
My Craft Spot #49-Spring Scallops
Celebrate the Occasion #55-Welcome Spring
Stampin' Sisters in Christ #131-Spring
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
