Have you ever tried a monochromatic coloring of your image? Me either...until today's card.
I decided to give it a try after seeing the Sunday Showcase at Designed to Color. It looked interesting and I wanted to challenge myself.
Our theme this week at Digi Makeover is Water, and I have had this sweet Jill image in my folder for quite awhile just waiting to be colored up. So I figured she would be perfect for this card.
I went with purple because...well I just picked up these 2 papers from Michael's and really wanted to use them :) So what do you think? Be honest :) Since I only have a small collection of colored pencils, my color range wasn't all that great..but I tried to shade darker with some colors to help add definition.
I printed off the sentiment and cut it out with the edge of a spellbinders die. All the edges are distressed to help break up the layers, since they are all purple. The large gems in the corner were also a sweet find at Michael's since they were on liquidation!!
Anyhow, let me know what you think of the monochromatic coloring. And if you try it out, let me know! I'd love to see what you come up with.
Join in the fun this week at Digi Makeover for our water challenge! We are all getting ready for those hot summer days where beaches and waves sound so good! And stop by the rest of the makeup artists blogs to see their fabulous creations! They always blow me away and are such great inspiration!

Welcome to the "Water, water everwhere" Monday Challenge... and Emily, you did a fantastic job - even coloring her hair and skin with shades of purple! That impresses me since most people take the liberty of excluding the skin and hair color in a monochromatic challenge. Well done! Oh - and you got water in there for our challenge... LOL! Good job!
ReplyDeleteGood luck in the Challenge and I hope we see more of your coloring skills next week!
