Dreams

Hey!!  Happy Tuesday!
It has been forever since I've had the time to participate in Tuesday Throwdown!  I can't believe I've missed so many of their challenges...but I am putting my best foot forward and working hard not to miss so many going forward!

So that starts now with our newest challenge starting today which is Seeing Stars!  We want to see you feature a bunch of stars on your project!!  And our awesome sponsor is Bugaboo!!
For my card, I decided to pull out my Gansai Tambi watercolors which I haven't played with in months!  I realized while making this card how much I've missed watercoloring!  Need to do that more often.  But with my paints, I did a very washy galactic type background using various shades of blue and a little purple.  I did 2 layers just to get a good vibrant color and depth.

Once that was dry, I pulled out my Big Bang Classic Stars Creative Screening from Winnie & Walter and applied some Pure Platinum Nuvo Mousse to my background so I'd have some shimmery silver stars!  It's so gorgeous!!  I'm in love!

While all that dried again, I die cut a bunch of clouds with my Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border dies in both white and vellum.  I layered these onto my starry background and then added my little Chibi Unicorn image from Bugaboo that I had colored up in coordinating colors with my copics.

Next to my sweet unicorn, I added a great sentiment from the Paper Smooches Magical Sampler stamp set that I white heat embossed onto some black cardstock and then used the same star stencil and nuvo mousse to add a few more accent stars on the clouds.

I love it!!  So colorful and starry!

I hope you'll join us this week for this fun Star challenge!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! <3

Quirky Christmas

Hello!!
A few weeks ago I made Top 3 at the Quirky Crafts challenge blog, and I'm so excited that this week I am one of their guest designers!!

Our challenge for you is quite fun!  It's Christmas in August...with a twist!  One of the lovely ladies there, Lyn, created a super fun wheel full of options for you to choose from!  Just pick 3 of them to include on your card!

Here is what I came up with:
This was a bit difficult for me.  I'm not sure why...still trying to get my mind wrapped around making Christmas cards...and then to try and do it in non-traditional colors really threw me off :)
Here is the wheel full of options:
Lots of fun stuff in there!  The sponsor this week at Quirky Crafts is Bugaboo, and they have loads of great Christmas images!  I used Stella Christmas-Christmas Cost and colored her in with my pencils.  I also added a little bit of glitter from my Wink of Stella pen to her had and shoes.

Stop by Quirky Crafts and join in the fun!!
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ABC Christmas-P is for...(Purple, Pearls, Polka Dots)
    Delicious Doodles #49-Christmas in August
    Divas by Design-Christmas in August

Bless Your Heart

I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!  It was incredibly hot here in Montreal...looks like summer has arrived!  It almost makes it too miserable to craft, move, or do anything at all...
But I made it through :)  Gotta love fans and AC :)

I was so excited when the mail lady came today!  She delivered to me a wonderful new stamp set that I won from Cardz TV!  I just couldn't wait to start using them :)
I don't have a lot of rubber stamps, just not something that I purchase very often.  So most of my sentiments and images are digital stamps.  But I always looonnnggg to have just simple little sentiment stamps that will fit practically anywhere and be perfect for any card.  Well, I must say I am loving the stamps I got today.  It's the Encouraging Thoughts set and it has just about everything!  While most of it could be geared toward sympathy cards, they are almost all versatile!  I love that!  So I used the "Bless your Heart" stamp and paired it with Ava Heart from Bugaboo Stamps.

She's all colored in and glittered out :)  I added glossy accents to almost all the hearts on this card.  The hearts in the image have clear glitter sprinkled on top of the glossy accents.
The frame is cut with my cricut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I also cut out the swirl and hearts with my cricut.  The smaller heart at the bottom is layered 5 times to create a "button", then I glued the swirl to the back and adhered the bow to the front.

The corner panels are embossed with my swiss dots folder.

This card is entered in the following challenges:

Baby Giraffe

Hello everyone!  Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
My card today is one that has a lot of elements that I love on it, but I'm not sure how I feel about the card over all...
I really love all the parts of the card, but I'm not sure if I like them all put together...
I tried my hand at paper piecing...I think it turned out okay but I don't think the leopard print pattern paper I used was the best choice.
The black papers are both wonderful papers individually but I think putting them together just made the card too busy.  I Love the damask paper, it was a purchase for some birthday invites I finished a few weeks ago and I've been dying to use it on a card...I'll have to try again :)
Using pink as my alternate color I think was a great decision as it helped to brighten the card up with all the black.  The pink striped paper in the middle was from my scrap pile and it was the perfect size to place as the divider between the two black papers.  I put a small piece of pink ribbon through the middle of it, though it's hard to see...
The heart frame is from My Grafico and I mounted it on a scallop oval cut with my Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge.  I then embossed that scallop oval with my Swiss Dots folder for some texture.
The cute little giraffe I got with my winnings from Sketches by Carly a few weeks at Bugaboo.  It's just such a cute image!!  Perfect for baby cards.  With the paper piecing, I cut out all the little hearts, colored them with pink colored pencils and then put some pink glitter glue over top so they sparkled.  For the large heart and her tail, I spread some pink 3D paint over them and then covered the paint with some tiny beads for their own unique kind of shimmer.
I cut out some flowers in pink and the leopard print paper, swiped my pink marker over the bottom layer from some additional color, and then layered them, finishing them off with a pink gem center and glitter glue.
Cut out a small flourish, added some paint dots for some detail on both the flourish and the upper corner, and stuck a few pins in the flowers and it was done!

The more I look at the card...the more it grows on me :)

Piggy Birthday

Feels like I'm getting my groove back :)
One of our close friend's birthday is this weekend, so I decided to make him a birthday card using one of my new Bugaboo stamps!
Seems like green and yellow have been my new go-to colors...they must remind me of summer and I am definitely ready for that!
Both the background papers were from a freebie pack over at Leaving a Legacy.  I love finding digital paper sets because then the papers already coordinate and I don't have to try and do the matching myself :)  I thought these papers could work well for a male birthday card.
The pig image is cut out at about 3 inches, and I used my cricut to cut out the frame...I can't remember where I downloaded that frame from...it was awhile ago before I really started making sure I labeled everything I got from other sites...
The banner is cut from the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge.  It had a birdie on one corner that I trimmed off.  Then I layered on some yellow flags and added some cord and bows across the top as well as criss-crossed under the image.
I printed off the birthday swirl sentiment which is just from about.com and cut it out with my Lacy Labels cartridge (when don't I use this cartridge? :) ) with a yellow frame.  Went back through and added some white dot details to finish it off!
I think it turned out really cute.  The darker colors in the background didn't print off very crisp and clear...I don't exactly have high quality cardstock to print on or a fancy printer for that sort of stuff :)  But it still looks good :)
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Seems a Little Sketchy #9
    The Crazy Challenge #111-Go Green
    Simon Says-A Bit o' Green
    Crafty Ribbons #15-Birthday
