Sending Love and Hugs - Sami Stamps Showcase!

Happy Friday!
I hope your week has been super fabulous!  It's been chilly here in Washington!  Not sure I'm quite ready for fall, even though it's my favorite time of year.  Just doesn't feel like we really had much of a summer.  But alas, it's here anyhow!

Today at Sami Stamps we are doing a Think Pink showcase!  This means that each image that the DT has used will be half off for the week!  These are some super cute images, and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, they will all work perfect for any project!

I decided to reuse an image I had created something for a long time ago.  This Butterfly for a Cause image is really sweet and I wasn't totally happy with my first go around with it.
For the first time in what seems like forever, I actually attempted to follow along for some challenges!  Both Share Joy and Creative Inspirations have a bingo board this week, so I pulled lines from both to make my card.

I started by using some distress inks and blending them out into a striped background.  I started with Squeezed Lemonade, then moved to Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral, and ended with Tattered Rose.  I overlapped them just slightly in each stripe so that they had a nice flow between them.

For some extra detail and fun, I took my white gel pen and a sparkle pen and went back over each stripe to add some dots.  I tried to concentrate a lot of dots on the top left side of each stripe and then scattered them to the bottom of the stripe.  It kind of gives a fun burst feel to each color.

Then I started on my image.  I did some super quick coloring with this by creating a mask and used the same colors from the background to blend the color on!  It was fast and still looks awesome!  To finish it off, I did a little light stippling around the image with some super soft blue colors.  I may have gone a little crazy with the dots on this card...but it was too much fun to stop!

The sentiment is from the WPlus9 set Sending Hoping Wishing.  I white heat embossed that onto some vellum and then trimmed it out into a double flagged banner.  There are some Sparkling Clear Sequins scattered around the card to pull it all together!

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see the wonderful DT creations!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:
Creative Inspirations #258-Bingo (white, distress, dots)
Fussy and Fancy #173-My Favorite Things (distress inks and sparkle!)
    Incy Wincy Designs-Things That Fly

Sami Stamps Release - Beautiful Ribbons Card #2

Here is my second card for this Sami Stamps release.  You can see my first card HERE!

For this card, I've used the oh-so-sweet Ribbon Kitty image (which you can get for free with another purchase at Sami's shop right now!)
As you know, I adore kitties.   Having 3 of my own, they are the joy that fills my heart.  And I just want to get more :)  So of course, I had to use this image when I saw it in Sami's release for this week.  I really wanted him to be nestled on top of a heart with a soft background, but none of the papers I had were working.

So I pulled out another stencil that I had made, grabbed a few more distress inks, and altered colors down the chevron pattern to make the background!  Aren't stencils awesome?!  I love that with a few inks, you can have your own custom background that is perfect for your card :)

I covered the background with a piece of vellum to mute down the colors a little bit, and then sewed around the edges for some fun detail.  The heart was cut out with my Silhouette.  I uses some Lawn Fawn papers for that, which matched perfectly to my background!

Then colored in my kitty with my ShinHan markers.  I love his fun fluffy tail!  Again, covered the whole ribbon in glitter pen so it sparkled.  I pieced together a touching sentiment onto a die cut banner from Spellbinders and attached it below the image.

The finishing touch was a few clear sequins sprinkled around the card, with some red gems in the centers.

Be sure to swing by Sami Stamps to see the rest of the release!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    2 Cute Ink #114-Anything Goes

Sami Stamps Release - Beautiful Ribbons!

Happy Friday!!
Everyone ready for this wonderful fall weekend!?  I am!  Especially since it's our last weekend before a little vacation!  Matthew and I have signed up to do the Tough Mudder race next weekend in Michigan, and while I am totally freaking out about the race, I can't wait for the little get away that surrounds it.  And we get to celebrate Matthew's birthday while we are home, so that makes the trip even more awesome!!

Back to today's post though :)  We have a sweet new release today at Sami Stamps - Beautiful Ribbons!  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, and the celebrate both her mother and grandmother's victory over breast cancer, Sami has drawn up some adorably heartfelt images for this release.

I will be sharing my cards in 2 separate posts.  So be sure to check out my other card HERE!

For this first card, I used the Flowers for a Cause image:
I just loved this image.  The flower is so sweet and while the focus is on breast cancer for this release, this image is really great for any awareness!

To start the card, I laid down a stencil I made with my Silhouette, and used some distress inks to make an ombre colored background.  Once that was dry, I added another homemade heart stencil and used some white embossing paste to fill it in.  Before it all dried, I sprinkled some glitter over top because I really wanted those hearts to sparkle, but the glitter didn't really stick all that well and proceeded to rub off the more I worked with the card...guess I'll stick with using sparkly embossing powder on the paste so I can heat set it.

For the image, I colored it all in with my ShinHan markers and added a bunch of glitter brush so it really shimmered!  I used some fun lacy ribbon around the edge to give it a frame but still keep it soft overall.

The sentiment was the last part to be added...mostly because I didn't plan that out from the beginning and struggled to find one that I wanted to use.  I decided to use this sentiment because it was encouraging and really said how I feel about anyone that is battling cancer.  The strength they have to keep fighting blows me away and I really feel they are amazing!

I did add a few drops of glue that I sprinkled with glitter around the sentiment and image.  Just wanted the whole card to sparkle!

You can see the rest of the release at Sami Stamps, along with the DT's amazing creations!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

For A Cause

Yay!  It's release day at Sami Stamps AND Friday!!  Double awesome!!
Sorry it's been quiet around here lately...been a bit of a busy week and not much crafting has happened...but I hope to change that today :)

So we have a new release today that is also accompanied by the start of a new challenge over at Sami Stamps!  As always, Sami has created some incredible images that I know you will just love!

There are two themes for this release:  Fall Acorns (come back next Friday to see my card for this set) and For a Cause.
Following the theme of the new challenge, I've kept my card Clean and Simple.  Sort of.  I decided I wanted to try making my own background with this card.  So I clear embossed some flowers and hearts onto white card stock and then took some pink, purple, and blue ink pads and used a cotton ball to apply the ink to the paper.  Now, my ink pads are pretty crappy...and the cotton balls I used were worse...so the ink didn't spread as nicely as I wanted it to.  But in the end I think it looks ok.  The little splotchy parts seem to work even if they weren't intended.

I used my ShinHan markers on the image.  I've been slowly adding to my collection, but I've been too scared to give them a try since I haven't practiced using markers very much.  But I think the image turned out super cute!  I just love that sweet butterfly!

I added some Flamingo liquid pearls around the background and a few places on the ribbon.  And that was it!  Pretty clean and simple :)

Be sure to stop by and join in our Clean and Simple challenge!  And definitely check out the rest of the DT's creations for this release, they are amazing!!

Thanks for stopping by!! <3

Choose Hope

Hello and Happy Monday!
Wet and soggy one here in Montreal this morning but that's ok.  We had some gorgeous weather all weekend!  It was perfect for getting together with friends yesterday to celebrate Thanksgiving (canada).

So we start a new challenge today at Paper Makeup and the theme is one that is quickly becoming my favorite -- Clean and Simple!  I think lots of people have different opinions of what clean and simple is.  To me, it's minimal layers with very few embellishments.  Simple :)
I really love this BCA ribbon from Paper Makeup and wanted to use it on my card this week.  It took me a little bit to figure out what layout I wanted to use, but once I worked that out, the whole thing came together super quick.

I colored up the image with my pencils and added some glitter pen so it sparkled.  The gems have been colored with a pink copic marker so they matched my color scheme.  Then I used one of the sentiments in the Faith Hope Love set that I felt had such a super awesome message.

The little border strip is punched with my MS Lace Edge punch and I embossed the top layer with the Swiss Dots folder.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Makeup Artists creations.  Then pull out your digi's and join in the fun!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    A Creative Romance-Pink
    Artistic Inspirations #63-Anything Goes
    Card Mania #31-Pastel Colors
Crafting When We Can #55-Make it Sparkle

Hooters!

This weeks challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is all about Awareness!  With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it's the common theme for these types of cards, and we make them to show our support for those that are struggling.

It's so hard to think of someone going through a life threatening battle...I admire them and their strength, but it saddens me to watch their struggle without being able to help in any way.  So I offer my support and I lift them up in prayer.

Our sponsor this week is Really Reasonable Ribbon, a perfect sponsor to have for this challenge.
Please forgive the not so perfect picture.  I'm still learning how to use my new camera and sometimes the lighting just doesn't work with it...

For my card, I used the adorable Save the Hooters image from Whimsie Doodles.  I bought this image last year and never got the chance to use it.  So I knew it had to go on this card!

I used some papers from the Little Darling Summer Sorbet collection and used my sewing machine around the edge (still need lots of practice with that...not sure why the corners are being rounded...).  Then I took a strip of wide white ribbon and pleated it across the bottom while running it through my sewing machine.  It turned out so awesome!  I'm very proud of that :)

I layered a light pink ribbon on the white, and then a strip of pink twine on top of that.  The button has been tied with the same pink twine and then I tucked the flagged sentiment in behind the button.

The fancy bra in the image has been covered with my glitter pen and some clear glitter so that it has lots and lots of sparkle.

Be sure to stop by and see the rest of the fabulous DT creations!  Then pull out your awareness ribbons and join in the fun!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Artistic Inspirations #62-Anything Goes/Make it Girly

    Crafty Catz #201-Anything Goes

Full Support

I feel like over the last 2 weeks my main focus for cards has been pink/breast cancer awareness...but each card I make turns out nothing like I want and I end up scrapping or shelving it...

I tried again today.  I'm happier with this card.  But it still isn't what I was hoping for, not that I really know what that is... :)  But I feel this one is closer..
I really love brown and pink together, doesn't matter the shades.  The dark brown framing on this card really pops with the light pinks and I love that!  And of course, I love leopard print and since I had some of that paper, I used it...(though thinking about it now...I never make cards with leopard print...hmmm...)

Nothing too fancy with this card...again...I cut the frame from a cut file with my cricut.  The image and sentiment are from the Ooh La La set from Paper Makeup, colored in with my colored pencils.
I layered up some white and pink ribbon and tied a bow with them, gluing a large pearl in the middle.
Around the edge I added little white paint dots that I covered with pink glitter so it was all nice and sparkly :)

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
The Crafty Pad-Breast Cancer Awareness/Think Pink
    Dawn's Crafting-Breast Cancer Awareness/Think Pink
    Forever Friends #45-Color Challenge
    Mojo Monday Sketch #260
One Stitch at a Time #132-Bingo (Ribbon, Digi, Die Cut)
    Pattie's Creations #53-Anything Goes
    Stamptacular Sunday #182-Bling it On
    That Craft Place-Bling it On

I also wanted to share with you another opportunity to give to a heartbreaking cause.  Krista Smith at Saturated Canary has shared information in her Butterflies post about a disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa.  Such a horrible disease...breaks my heart reading parents stories of their little ones suffering from this.
To help raise a little money for this cause, Krista has drawn up an adorable little Butterfly Baby and for the next week, all proceeds from this digi will go to the Butterfly Fund Charity.
Please visit her blog and check out her shop, and maybe spend $4 on this cute digi to offer a little help :)

Love and Prayers

Happy Thursday!  Only one more day till the long weekend!! Woot!  I love when my husband gets to stay home with me :)

I've tried to really hit my work hard today and bust out some cards.  They have all turned out fabulous but I really wanted to share this one with you :)
I recently won this wonderful image from Paper Makeup called Emma.  It's so precious!  The card is themed for the Link up for Pink challenge blog.  That is why there is so much pink!  Although, I do have to admit that lately pink seems to be my color choice when it comes to cards...not really sure why.  I like the softness of it I guess.  And I have a lot of soft pink papers :)

Anyway, this card came together pretty darn easy :)  That always makes me happy!  I pulled some bolder pink papers from my stash that I have had forever and trimmed them to size, distressing the edges (recently figured out how to do that (yes I'm slow) and I'm loving it!).  I punched out the heart border just wide enough for my scroll ribbon and added that behind the image.

Miss Emma is colored with my colored pencils.  I outlined her with my light blue Copics sketch marker, then added light blue and white paint dots around the umbrella, sort of to mimic water.
I used the punched out hearts from the border, layered a few together, covered them in glitter and then added them to the corner.  While everything was drying, I made up the pink flower and put a light purple pearl in the center.  The white roses I had quilled up already...which is very rare :)

The sentiment is just printed from my computer, mounted onto pink card stock and scallop cut around the edge.  Gorgeous :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Link up for Pink #5
    Love to Create #30-Handmade Flowers
My Craft Spot #67-Hope is Rising
    Totally Stampalicious-Anything Goes
    Bearly Mine #50-Anything That Glitters

Nothing is Impossible

Happy Monday to everyone!
It has been a rough couple of weeks here for us... a few weekends ago we were able to head back home to MI to celebrate our niece's second birthday!  It was wonderful and we cherish every moment we get to spend with her!  But as we were leaving to head back to Montreal, we got some troubling news about our grandpa...and a week later we were rushing back to MI to be with our family.  Even though the reason for us being home was heartbreaking, it was a nice visit being able to see so many loved ones and sharing so many wonderful stories and memories of what a wonderful man grandpa was.  He will be so terribly missed...

After all that last week, it has been a little tough getting back into the groove of my work, but I pushed forward today.
The adorable image I used is "Boobie Love" from Saturated Canary.  I can't seem to get enough of Krista's images!  With her new shop opening up, I have spent way too much time just browsing through the images...longing to buy them all!  But financially I can't...so I have to restrain myself...and fulfill my temptation with just 1 or 2...or 3 :)

I colored Miss Love in with my colored pencils and added some glitter to the rose and shirt.  I followed the Sweet Sunday sketch for this card.  There were several other elements I wanted to add, but as I put it all together, less seemed to speak louder than more.
The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I love every sentiment that she comes up with and I'm so thankful for all the time she puts into creating them!
I cut out a bunch of 5 petal flowers to make into buttons and then covered them with glitter.  Two of the flags and the background of the frame are embossed with my Swiss Dots folder.  The frame is cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #159
Ooh La La Creations #105-Ribbon or Twine
One Stitch at a Time #114-Anything Goes
    Paper Sundaes-Pretty in Pink
    Robyn's Fetish #108-Anything Goes
    Divas by Design #35-Pink
Sassy Studio Designs #125-Triple Play (3 Flower Buttons, 3 Flags)

Thanks for stopping by!
