Faking an Acrylic Poured Background

Hello hello!
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  It was bright and sunny here in Washington and the temperatures have started to rise!  I'm not sure I'm ready for a heat wave, but it is nice seeing the sun :)

Are you ready for another round of gorgeous inspiration for our current Inky Paws color challenge?
I decided to play around with my card design a bit this week to try out something new.  I've been having a lot of fun with my acrylic pours, but they can take quite some time to dry and I sometimes struggle with getting them done with enough time to let them dry and complete my card.  So this week I used the technique that Jennifer McGuire used where she coated her paper with multiple layers of embossing powder and then used dye inks on top.

My first several layers were with a fine detail white embossing powder because I had a full jar of that which meant I knew I wouldn't run out.  But the fine detail of it didn't seem to give me the thickness I needed...so I ended up adding a couple layers of regular powder as well.

Then used a couple of Lawn Fawn inks and smooshed them over the melted embossing powder.  Working in sections, I heated all the layers of powder up so they flowed really well, which moved the ink around into some cool patterns.  I did this several times until I got the coverage and intensity I wanted.  I love how soft the whole thing is!!  Once that was done, I ended up adding a single layer of clear embossing powder to seal all the ink in since it didn't really dry and I was smearing it.

I pulled out my Shades of Autumn stamp set and did some 2 tone stamping with one of the leaves.  Then trimmed them all out and layered them around my panel, which was cut with one of the pieces in the new Frameworks die set.

I added my white heat embossed sentiment from the Peony Blooms set to a circle cut piece of vellum and tucked that into the leaves.  Then layered it all onto another frame that was cut with the Flags and Frames die.  I love how the 2 die sets work perfectly together!!

To jazz it up a little more, I added nuvo crystal drops in Simply White around the edge in each of the scallops and scattered a few around the sentiment.

I can't wait to see what you'll come up with!  Just a few more days left to join us!!

Thanks for visiting! <3
