...for making this first card!! lol...
My schedule for Monday included making an "I'm Sorry" card. So I looked through the sketches I had for challenges this week and decided on the sketch at Sketches by Carly:
Pretty cute right?!
So I get started on my card, choose my papers and colors...and produce this terrible, awful, never going to show this again card!
It wasn't looking good from the beginning, but I kept hoping that the next element I added would pull it all together...and it just didn't! I was sooooo disappointed! Once again I had spent precious time and valuable materials to make something that was just plain ugly...
Well I couldn't end my day that way, so I tried again. I looked up a different digital sentiment to use and changed my colors a little bit. I didn't want to totally give up on the patterned paper or sketch I used...what would be the challenge if I didn't try to improve on something I didn't like?
Once I had my plan set out, I started putting it all together. And this is the result:
Tada!!! I LOVE it! As you can see, I still used the floral paper, but I covered it with a piece of vellum to tone down the brightness of it. Instead of the original brown I paired it with green, and I chose a pinkish second patterned paper. The sketch is flipped to the side but still contains all the needed elements.
I cut out some floral shapes with my cricut and started constructing the flowers. I spent a good part of yesterday looking up details, styles, and techniques on how to make different flowers. That was so fun! But ultimately put me 2 days behind on my initial "schedule." Opps! Oh well :)
The centers of the large flowers are just big blobs of 3D paint. I don't have any gems or pearls large enough to fit in those centers. I was hoping it would have been a bit more shiny when dry...but doesn't appear to be.
I made some buds using the same petals as the large flowers, I just cut out the centers so the petals were in a strip and then twisted them up. Then punched out some little daisy shapes, added a little glitter to them and a gem in the centers, and shoved them into the arrangement :)
On the right side of the sentiment is another flower, but I also made some little "stick pins." They aren't really stick pins, they are strips of paper with a decorated heart glued to the end! But again, I don't have stick pins so I had to work with what I've got :) I think they turned out super cute! And they do add something extra to the whole card.
This card (the second, much prettier card :) ) is entered in the following challenges:
Sketches by Carly #50

What a truly gorgeous creation. Sadly we will be unable to put you forward for one of our Top 5 slots, or the prize as our criteria was 3 embellishments and you have used four, flowers, stick pins (beautifully made by the way!), butterflies and gems.
