Wicked - Sami Stamps Halloween Girls Release

Happy Friday!!!
Ah, I love short weeks :)  Less days of not getting to see my husband all day and the weekend gets here quicker!  Plus, it's fall, and even with the strange humid heat wave we had this week, it's still perfect for a cup of hot chocolate and snuggling under the blankets together :)

It's also time for a new Sami Stamps release!  This release is all about Halloween, my favorite!  You have to check it out because these images are just so perfect!

I chose to use the Spooky Flower 3 for my card, and I went with a little bit different of a style...
Ok, I think it still fits with "my style" whatever that may be.  But this card is much darker than I normally make.  But I saw a card with this awesome spiderweb background from Lorraine over on the Simon Says challenge blog and knew I had to give it a shot!

I bought the Memory Box Spider Web Frame Die last year and haven't really had much success with using it on my cards...but thought it would be great for a stencil/mask!  And that's how I used it for this card.  I just cut it out of some paper since the transparencies don't really work all that well through the cuttlebug...I laid it over my black cardstock and sponged around it with some white pigment ink.  I tried to sponge randomly and a bit uneven so that it wasn't all uniform looking.

Once I was done sponging, I covered the whole thing with some Frosted Crystal embossing powder.  That was a tip from Lorraine...I still have no idea what it actually did to the whole thing, but it looks cool! :)

My image has been printed onto some vellum.  Since printer ink takes awhile to dry on vellum, I was able to cover the image with clear embossing powder and heat set it!  I used a few markers to color it in and cut it out with my Silhouette into a tag shape.  I used my heat tool on the ribbon as well to melt it and make it all webbed and broken, it looks really cool!

Since the whole card was dark and creepy, I tried to lighten it up a little with some sparkly sprinkles from Doodlebug.  Not sure if it helped much, but I still like them :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Artistic Inspirations #113-Anything Goes/Make Your Own Background
    Card Mania #57-Tag
    Crafts 4 Eternity #198-Creepy Crawlies
    Retro Sketches #136

Thanks for stopping by!! <3

  1. You have made a wonderful card, Emily, how clever was to print this stamp on a vellum? So cool! I always find it difficult to make cards with such stamps, but what you did is a great inspiration. Have a nice weekend drinking hot chocolate!
