It's Your Big Day!

Happy Tuesday!
Time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown.  This week we want to see you add some dimension to your projects!  We have a fabulous sponsor this week as well - Sami Stamps!!
I chose to use an older image from Sami Stamps - Flower Bath.  I think this was from one of the first releases from when I joined her team.  But it is still a beauty and I loved cutting it into layers and putting it all together.

The background is one that I've had sitting on my desk for awhile.  It's a soft washy watercolor with the bokeh technique used on top.  I cut that out with a stitched rectangle die and added some fun foam to the back of the middle piece.  My image was printed off 4 times.  One layer I cut out with a rectangle die to be my base and the other 3 images I selectively cut and layered together to give the image some great depth.

Since spring is upon us, I wanted my flower to look like the cute little Crocus' that are popping up in everyone's yards right now.  So I picked a nice set of yellow pencils and set to coloring.  The flower was really the most coloring needed for this image.  The bubbles are simply shaded with some blues to match the background and I used some gamsol to get a really nice smooth finish on them.

To finish the card off, I used the new sentiment set Everyday Greetings from Pretty Pink Posh on a die cut banner and then added the second portion of the sentiment below it, directly onto the card.  The bubbles we coated with a generous amount of shimmer and some glossy accents.

I hope you will join us this week for our Dimension challenge!!

Out of This World! - New Sami Stamps Release!

Hello and Happy Friday!!!
We have a super fun new release to share with you today over at Sami Stamps!  This release is called Planes and Play and is oh so adorable!
For my card, I've used the Flying Boy image.  To color him up, I first started with a solid layer of marker.  Then came in with my pencils to add all the shading and detail.  I have much more control with my pencils, but I like the solid base that the markers give me to start off with.

This little boy looks so excited to be flying!  I wanted it to look like he was flying up out of the clouds into space.  So I started my background by adding a little tiny area of yellow for the sun.  Then came in from the edges with a couple shades of blue, getting darker towards the outer right corner.

I die cut several cloud layers from white and a few from vellum and layered them all up all along the lower edge of the card.  My little fly boy was fussy cut out and added with a little bit of foam tape.  I tucked one wing under the clouds to give that suggestion that he's just popped up out of them.

For the propeller...I wanted to try something a little fun.  So I printed it all off 2 more times, once on vellum and once on white cardstock.  I cut the vellum out to include the whole front of the plane, including the motion stripes since the vellum represents the wind created by the propeller.

Then I colored and cut out just the propellers.  I added a brad in the middle and joined it with the vellum layer, keeping it a little loose so the propellers would spin!  It's a little tight...there are a few things I'd do a little different to make it spin better...but for now, it's so super cute that you can still spin the blades around!

I finished the card off by stitching my sentiment to the top of the card and added some white and glitter stars to the sky.

Oh and we're starting a new challenge for this month to Add Blue!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fabulous weekend! <3

You Are Loved

Hello hello and Happy Tuesday!!
It's another snowy one here in Washington...kind of.  The weather has been quite weird lately...first snow, then rain, then the suns shining!  And right back to snow before you can blink...so strange.

Since I'm totally ready for spring, my card for today's new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown took on a very springy feel :)
It's been a really long time since I've used only patterned paper for my backgrounds.  I usually try to do something unique with a fun technique, but just wasn't feeling it for this card.  So instead I focused on the coloring to make my image pop and kept the rest of the card simple.

This little cutie is Amy in the Garden from our fabulous new sponsor-Sasayaki Glitter!  I colored her all up with my Prismacolor pencils and cut her out with a stitched rectangle before layering her onto my patterned papers.

I stamped and embossed a fun sentiment from HoneyBee Stamps onto vellum and then trimmed that into a flag and foam mounted it on the side.  A scattering of some Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and the card was done!

I hope you will stop by and join us for our Thinking of You challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!

Thanks for visiting! <3
