Hi!!!
We're starting a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown!
I am currently on a little blogging/crafting break so this post is scheduled.
Hopefully it pops up correctly!

Our awesome new challenge is Up in the Air!  We want to see things that can fly on your projects!  This can be things with wings, or balloons, feathers...anything that flies through the air!
We have a fabulous new sponsor for this challenge - Lacy Sunshine!  They have provided the team with adorable images to use!  I chose to use Georgie Giraffe.
Isn't he the cutest!?  I started with a fun embossed silver star background that was in my pile of scraps.  I made it a long time ago as just an experiment, but loved it so much I couldn't get rid of it, even though I had no idea what to use it for.  Well, it worked perfect for this card!  I did a little ink blending over the stars to get a nice pink ombre color.

There is a little piece of vellum cut at the top but you can hardly see it!  I coordinated some fun pink ribbon with the background and tied it into a bow behind a white button.

The image was colored in with my markers and mounted up on a scallop cut oval.  I added a simple sentiment and the card was done!

Be sure to stop by Tuesday Throwdown to see the amazing creations by the team!  And be sure to join in this fun challenge!!

Friendship Smiles

Hi Everyone!
Time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!!
I am currently on a little blogging/crafting break for a few months, so this post is scheduled.  Hopefully it pops up correctly!

Our fun new challenge is Friendship!  I love making friend cards.  Never a lack of needing those!
Our awesome sponsor is MyGrafico and they have provided us with the cutest images to use!
This card was way too much fun to make!  I decided to try something a little different with my embossing paste..I added sand to it!!  I wanted the dino's to be walking on dirt but couldn't think of a good way to do it.  Browsing around my room I saw my containers of colored crafty sand from a previous project with my husband and the idea clicked!

I mixed a little bit of the embossing paste with a little bit of sand and then added a drop of brown ink to give it a little color.  Smeared that along my distressed sky and let it sit for a bit while I colored the dinos with my pencils.

Once the sand had dried a little, I pressed some glitter into it so that the sand sparkled, and stamped a few footprints.  So cool!!

To finish it all off, I printed off a sentiment onto vellum and clear heat embossed it.  And white embossed some stars in the sky.  Really love this card!!

Be sure to visit Tuesday Throwdown to join in this fun challenge!!

God Loves You - Sami Stamps Easter Release!

Hi Everyone!
We have an awesome new release at Sami Stamps and we are starting a fun new challenge!
I am currently on a blogging/crafting break so this post is scheduled.
Hopefully it pops up correctly!!

This fun new release is all about Easter!
I have chosen to use the Tulip Easter Egg image for my card.
This was such a gorgeous image to work with, I knew I had to put a cross on the card somehow.  Little side placements didn't seem to fit the image well, so I figured why not just put the cross right through the middle.  I love how it looks!!

I also decided to do some simple watercoloring on the background in some pale yellows.  Over top of that I stamped some white circles and embossed those with some clear sparkly embossing powder.  It just helps to add a little texture and detail to the card, without too much distraction.

Since our new challenge is paper piecing, I did my best to stick with that for the tulip egg.  I printed the whole thing off onto some blue patterned paper and framed that with a piece of scallop cut vellum.

Then I set to work on the tulips. Those are printed onto some really cool watercolory type purple paper.  I added a little shading at the base of each petal and then cut them all apart so I could add little bits of dimension behind each individual petal.  It was lots of work, but it looks so amazing that it was totally worth it!!

I stamped the sentiment below the flowers, and then went back in later with some black embossing powder to help separate it a little from the image (something my wonderful husband pointed out to me.  Love it when his eye catches something mine doesn't :) ).

So be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see the rest of this amazing release and what the design team has done with it!!  And then join in our paper piecing challenge!!

Pawesome Friend

Hi everyone!
I wanted to stop in real quick and share a fun card I've put together.  As you know, I love Newton's Nook.  Can't get enough of them.  So whenever a fun idea pops into my head to use their stamps on, I get really excited!

I had this idea pop while browsing some challenges and seeing a few sketches.  I knew I wanted to use the kitty, but wasn't sure what to put next to him.  Took me a day or so to figure that out, but when it clicked it all worked!
I love it!!!  I decided to use the "pawesome" die cut from the Simon Says Stamp Playful Pets set.  I did a little selective cutting so only the main parts of the word cut, and the very bottom stayed attached to the card.  It didn't entirely work...but oh well.  A little bit of fun foam behind it for stability and it all worked out in the end :)

To get that die cut to pop out a little, I covered it in some clear/silver glitter and then clear embossed it.  So much sparkle, I love it!

Then I colored in my little Storm from the Newton's Antics set.  After debating on a background for a day or so, I finally decided to just do some simple paw stamps in grey behind everything.

And to finish it off, I added the little friend stamp under the die cut.  It's such a sweet card.  I love how cute Storm is all tucked in sleeping.  Love my kitties!

This is also sort of a special post because it will be my last "live" post for a few months.  I have posts scheduled through April for my challenge teams that you will still get to see, but after April I'm not sure when I will be back.  Some awesome changes are happening right now and I'm thrilled with it all, but it does mean that I have to step away from crafting for a bit.  Thank you for understanding!!  I will see you all again in a few months!   <3
