Creating a Stained Glass Background

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!
We have a fun new challenge starting today over at Tuesday Throwdown - a Tic Tac Toe board!!
We also have a fabulous sponsor this week - DRS Designs, who has graciously provided my team with images to use on their cards.  I chose to use the Large Stained Glass image.  I thought it would make a perfect background, and why not follow it's name and do some stained glass painting on it!
I started by printing the background image onto some watercolor paper.  Then chose some very basic watercolors and set to work.  I first filled the space I wanted to color with clean clear water and then dropped my color in, moving around the image and then circling back to the previous spots to spread the color to the edges if it didn't make it with just the water.  I wanted there to be more red than any other color so I started with that one and filled in a lot of the little spaces.  Then went back in with the green and super watered down black so it would be grey.  The white spots actually have a really light blue in them.  I didn't want them to be left white but I didn't want another bright color to pull away from the Christmas colors...so I just did a light blue.

Once all of the paint was dry, I went over the light blue and red spots with my wink of stella clear glitter brush to add a little bit of shimmer.  Let that set and then traced over all the lines with a black sharpie.  My printer ink is running out so they weren't a nice bold black like I wanted, but they worked fine enough so I could paint them and then go back over them.

Once everything was completely dry, I smooshed my VersaMark ink pad over the whole thing!  This worried me a little.  I wasn't sure if all my paint would then transfer to the ink pad so I tested it first and it came out clean!  So I did the rest of the panel and then coated it with clear embossing powder and heated it till everything had melted and the whole panel had a nice glossy shine to it!  So perfect!
I cut out the large "Merry" with my Silhouette and layered it onto black cardstock.  Then white heat embossed the word Christmas onto some black cardstock as well.  I found a holly image in my digital collection (sorry...I don't know who it is from...) colored them up with my Shin Han markers and added them around the sentiments.

The last touch to everything was another coat of wink of stella and a little bit of star dust stickles on the berries!  This card turned out perfect!  I love how shiny the stained glass is and everything just gels together so well!!

I hope you will join us for this fun challenge!  Here is the tic tac toe board for this week:
I went right down the center with red & green, digital stamp, ribbon.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Creative Fingers #96-Anything Goes
    Ooh La La #192-Embossing

Christmas Lights out of Die Cut Scraps!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween this weekend!  We were able to attend a little party with our close friends...it was awesome!  We even did a little dressing up :)  I'll share that pic at the end...but first, to my card!

Awhile ago I was working on making up some stationary for a letter that I'm trying to build up the courage to write...figured it might be easier/nicer to have some gorgeous paper to write it on.  But after getting the stationary finished, I had these little scraps left over that just screamed to be used...I knew I couldn't throw them away.  So I mulled it over for a little bit, and the best idea ever struck me!
I turned them into Christmas Lights!!  Ok so the die cut that I was using for my stationary pieces was the Notebook Edge Die-namic from My Favorite Things.  It's a super fun die to have and I love the nice finished edge it gives...but it also leaves behind these cute little strips with circles from where the holes are in the notebook edge!

With the holidays bearing down on us, I thought those cute little circle string stripes were perfect for Christmas lights, so I colored them up with my markers and generously coated them with some wink of stella clear glitter.  I even added foam tape to the back of each of those little circles so they had some dimension behind them!  Once they were all adhered, I coated them in glossy accents so they would really shine!

I think they look so perfect with the blue night sky behind them :)  And I've been addicted to my new Liquid Platinum embossing powder, so of course I had to use it for the sentiment on this card!  The final touch was a few white and silver dots in the sky for the stars.  I adore this card!  It was so fun to come up with a unique way to use scraps from a previous project!

I encourage you to try and think outside the box with your scraps...you never know what you might come up with!  If you do have a unique project using your scraps, share it with me here!  I'd love to check them out!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Oh and here is our Halloween pic :)

Thanks so much for visiting!!! <3

Elegant Poinsettia

I admit...I've caught the Christmas card bug...I tried so hard to avoid it!  Willing it to hold off for just a little bit longer...but alas...the crafting world has broke me and I now find myself dreaming up wintery cards and Christmas scenes...

I will try not to bombard you with too many (after this post :) ) for a little while longer...but they are coming!
I have had this gorgeous stamp set from The Cat's Pajamas called Elegant Christmas since last year (unfortunately it looks to be sold out...).  When I purchased it, I absolutely adored it and felt I had a ton of ideas for using it...but it sat on my desk and I barely touched it.  Nothing ever seemed to click or I got wrapped up in other things and couldn't get around to using it.  I think the main reason I bought this set is for this stunning poinsettia image.

With the spark of Christmas hitting me this week, I decided it was time to put this set to use.  So I pulled it out and started playing around with this poinsettia.  I stamped it with distress inks so I could do some watercoloring.  While my post yesterday was about simple watercoloring, this card is the opposite :)

I wanted to avoid all those perfect swirls so that they stayed nice and crisp white.  Doing that was super easy with a really fine point brush and a steady hand.  But you have to have patience!  You can't rush or use too much water or the whole thing blobs out and you have to start over.

The flower was first stamped in Abandoned Coral distress ink to get the base color down.  Then I went in with Fired Brick for my darkest color in the center and Barn Door for my mid-tone.  Once I had those blended nicely, I came back in with some more Abandoned Coral and blended it all out to get a nice smooth finish.  I trimmed around both flowers and layered them together.

The challenge over at The Cat's Pajamas is to case one of the DT.  I fell in love with the layout of Christine's card and decided to use that as my guide.  Of course, I got the placement of my sentiment wrong...but I think it works out better at the top for my card anyhow :)

The white background was embossed using the Simon Says Stamp Triangle Pattern die.  I backed that with some Lawn Fawn paper and added a few sequins and that wrapped up the card!!

Thank you so much for stopping by! <3

Can't believe this is happening already...

...but I'm sharing a Christmas card with you today!!  I apologize...I usually do my best to put that sort of stuff off until after the other holidays...but these adorable new images from Sami Stamps just screamed Christmas!  Please forgive me :)

So I hope everyone is well!  We've had a pretty mellow week...until yesterday when we woke up to the sound of gushing water in our bathroom.  Well, not in our bathroom, but under it.  Yup...broken pipe...ugh...Matthew thankfully was able to stay home from work and get it patched, but even with the fix, it still highlights a much larger problem with our pipes that neither of us really want to deal with, but know we should...someday.

It was awesome having him work from home though!  Being in the office together..me crafting, him clicking away on the computer.  It gets a bit lonely here at home all alone, so having him here was nice.  And it kept me motivated to get my work done!  I cranked out this card showcasing the new Cats in Cups release from Sami Stamps:
I have used the very sweet Cup Kitty 1 image.  It's just so precious!  I, of course, colored her in like my sweet little Cloud.  Then fussed over the cup...I tried coloring it solid with my markers but I couldn't get the blending right and it just looked horrible...so then I decided to paper piece it with some fun Lawn Fawn paper and only added shading around the bottom.  That worked pretty well so I pieced it all back together.

The shape of this image just seemed super perfect to try and make an ornament from it!  Sandy Allnock has a "Go for the Gold" series going on right now and her first card/lesson was about making an ornament and adding it to a card.  Figured I'd give it a try.  To fit some of the gold in, I embossed little hearts on the cup in Enchanted Gold embossing powder and added little gold dots around them, though it's hard to see those in the picture.
I did add a little adhesive behind the image to help it stick to the card, but I rubbed it against my shirt a few times to take most of the sticky away.  My sentiment is from Pink Cat Studio which I printed on vellum and embossed in clear.  This panel is what should be used to hold the ornament in place, but mine isn't super tight.  I did add the little gold brads to help tighten it a little and it's fine, but the adhesive behind the ornament was definitely needed.

Finished the whole card off with some sparkly gold enamel dots!

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see the rest of this adorable release!  And check out the rest of the DT's creations!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Fab n Funky #275-Anything Christmas
    Penny's Paper Crafty #247-Anything Goes
Sandy Allnock's Go for the Gold Day #1

Thanks From The Heart

Hello!!
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!!  I'm still visiting family in Michigan, but scheduled this post so that you could see another one of the adorable new images from Sami Stamps!

This card features the Frosty Love image:
I adore this cute snowman!  The hearts hanging from his (or hers?) limbs are so perfect, and make it easy to use this image for occasions other than winter or Christmas!  That's what I decided to do for my card.  I went with a more lovey/thanks type card.  A few days ago, I saw a post from Sandy Allnock with a pink winter sky background...how awesome!  I had to give it a try and this card seemed perfect for that.

I went with black and pink, not sure why, but they just looked so good together.  I inked up my sky background in some softer colors.  I didn't want it to be harsh and dark but soft and lovely :)

Once I printed out and colored up my image, I trimmed around it and mounted it onto the inked up background, which I drew some little hearts onto for fun :)  I stamped the simple little "thanks" along the bottom of his belly and then heat embossed the rest of the sentiment underneath.  Glossy accents were added to the hearts and his eyes for some shine, and that was it!!

Love love love this new release from Sami Stamps!!  Go check it out!

Thanks for visiting! <3

Chubby Snowman

Happy Friday!
I hope everyone has had a lovely week!  We are off on our Christmas vacation to Michigan!  Going to be a busy week, but it will be nice to be with family for the holiday.

We have yet another amazing release from Sami Stamps today!  They just keep getting better and better!  This week is all about our favorite winter friend-Snowmen!!

I chose to use the Chubby Frost image for my card:
He's just so cute and round, I couldn't help but snag him up.  I went with traditional Christmas colors for my card.  Seems I haven't done many of those yet...been using a lot of blue for my Christmas cards...so it felt nice to put these colors together again.

The whole card is very simple...I've been running around like a mad woman trying to get everything ready for us to leave, and had a trillion other cards to get done as well...but I still love how it turned out!  I added a few vellum snowflakes around the top with a sequin and gem in the center for some sparkle.

This chubby guy looked like he needed to be holding a banner.  So I stamped out a sentiment on vellum again, cuz I didn't want to cover him up, and glued it across the span of his twig arms.  Finished it all off with some glitter on his hat and glossy accents on his buttons and eyes!!

Be sure to visit Sami Stamps to check out this adorable release and to see the other Amazing DT creations!  I'll have another scheduled post next Friday to show another one of the images from this release, so don't forgot to stop by!!

Merry Christmas! <3

Merry Christmas!!

Happy Tuesday!
I hope everyone has had a lovely week so far! I am frantically scrambling around the apartment trying to get everything finished that I need to before we head out to Michigan for Christmas.  It's crazy!  Always feels like I should have more time...and then it's all gone!

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!  I will have a few scheduled posts pop up over the next few weeks, so don't forgot to visit!  But do take some time to step away from the computer and enjoy your families during the holidays!! <3

Today we start our final challenge of the year at Tuesday Throwdown!  We will be on a 2 week break after this challenge for Christmas, but we'll be back January 6!
Our challenge this week is Anything Christmas!
We're excited to have our very own CraftyGirl sponsoring this weeks challenge!  Be sure to check out her CraftyGirl Creations shop!

For my card, I have used the lovely Merry Christmas Holly 1 image.  It's been colored in with my markers very simply.  I tried to do a little shading on the letters.  Once the image was colored, I covered everything in a couple layers of clear glitter brush and a generous amount of glossy accents!  Getting the glossy accents on was a lot of work...but I found if I put a big glob through the middle of the letter and then pushed it around with a pin, it worked out pretty well.

Once that was completely dry, I added in some distress ink around the edges for some fun depth.  Because the image was covered with the glossy accents, it resisted all the distress ink, leaving my image still nice and crisp!  I also went over all the swirls with a black Wink of Stella glitter brush for a little more sparkle.

The rest of the card came together really smooth.  I wanted the image to take center stage so I only added a little bit of twine and some scallop edges to pop it up from the green background.

I hope you will join us this week!  Thanks for stopping by! <3

Happy Howl-idays: Take 2

Happy Friday!!!
One more week and we will be on the nice long drive to Michigan to spend Christmas with our families!  It's coming so much faster than I'm ready for it to...so got to keep myself moving!  Lots to do over the next week :)

Last week we had a fabulously cute release over at Sami Stamps.  Totally adorable puppies and kitties, just perfect for Christmas.  I chose to use the Present Pups image for the release.  Those 3 little cuties just called my name.  But unfortunately, I didn't make a card that really showcased them well enough.  I just didn't like it, and I knew I needed to redo it to give my best work to Sami...she deserves that from me.

So I tried again :)
Ah, much better :)  It's not perfect...I know.  It feels a little empty, but at the same time, I knew that I couldn't put anything else on it.

I decided to keep the coloring of the puppies the same.  They turned out so cute on the first card, that I just wanted to stick with the same colors.  I did darken up the present box they are in though to try and work it a little better with the darker papers I've used.  I kept the sentiment the same as well, and tried my best to heat emboss it...but it dried too quickly for me to get the powder to stick.  So I went over the whole thing with a Wink of Stella glitter brush which added just enough moisture to the top so I could quickly sprinkle the powder on letter by letter.  It worked, and I'm happy with it :)

Since our challenge this month at Sami Stamps is Christmas Embellishments, and I used jingle bells on the last card, I opted for something different.  These creamish colored snowflakes worked really well and matched the color scheme.  And that's it for the details!  Still a pretty simple card, but I love it so much more.  It just flows a lot better :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Chocolate Coffee Cards #80-Christmas
    Crafts 4 Eternity #206-Christmas
    Crafty Catz #259-Last Minute Christmas
    Creative Fingers #60-Anything Goes/Traditional Christmas

Happy Howl-idays!!

Happy Friday!!!
It is time for another fabulous release from Sami Stamps!  Woot Woot!!  I can never get enough of her releases and they are always so perfect!  This release is no different.  It's a Christmas Mix release and definitely one you want to go check out!

I decided to use Present Pups for my release card.
To be honest...this card doesn't sit right with me.  Something is just off with it and I'm not sure what...maybe the checker background...the colors?  I'm not sure.  I still like it, but feel I could have done something different to make it much better.

To start, I took a couple shades of red distress ink and blended out the background before spritzing it with some shimmer mist.  I had the checkerboard panel cut out from a different card idea and grabbed that to place over top of the reds.  Maybe white wasn't the right color?...I don't know.

The image was the most fun to work with!  Since I don't have puppies, I had to sift around for some coloring inspiration and settled on a rescue organization out in Washington called Panda Paws Rescue.  I've been following them on Facebook for awhile now and my heart goes out to them for all the work they do with the pups that they rescue.  Amazing people there!!

They have a few dogs that I just adore-Duncan Lou "Dubs", Effie, and Maggie Simpson.  I did my best to color in my pups to represent these 3 adorable cuties :)

The card was finished off with a button strung with some red twine and a couple of jingle bells, and a perfectly fitting sentiment from Create with TLC.  I printed the sentiment onto vellum so I could heat emboss it with some black sparkle powder.

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps today!  We are starting a new challenge and we want to see your Christmas Embellishments!!  I've been using snowflakes a lot lately, so I opted for the jingle bells this time around.  But you can use anything you feel represents a Christmas embellishment!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    DigiStamps4Joy #105-Christmas
    Pattie's Creations #105-Christmas Cards
    Simon Says-Christmas/Holidays
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #247

Peace

Happy Thursday!
We are starting a new challenge at Meljen's Designs.  We want to see you Holiday cards!  I've really been trying to push myself to make Christmas cards these last few weeks.  It's been tough this year, but I'm working on it :)

Meljen's Designs has so many fabulous images, it's always so hard to decided which one I want to use.  But this sweet little Woodland Christmas Tree was just calling to me when I browsed through my images.
I really wanted to do something fun for this card.  So decided to pull out my watercolors and work on creating some sort of Northern Lights type sky.  My first attempt went horribly wrong, but thankfully I learned from it and was able to create something that I really love!  I should have added a few more darker spots in some areas, but overall it's exactly what I set out to create.

Of course, right in the middle of working on this card, our computer crashed and I wasn't able to print off my image until Matthew got home to fix the computer.  Thank goodness he is a computer wiz!  I love my geeky husband <3

So the image ended up being colored in a super rush so I could get my card finished in time to send it off to my team leader...so it isn't colored all that great.  But it sparkles, so that makes it pretty and helps distract from the sub-par coloring :)

To finish it all off, I die cut a couple layers of vellum and a dark blue to mimic some rolling snow hills and layered them together around the tree.  Then tied a simple little twine bow.  The sentiment was an after thought...like always.  I got really lucky that the stamping of it came out crisp since that whole panel was already mounted up on foam tape.  But it worked!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    AAA Cards #29-Blue Christmas
    Curtain Call-Clearly Christmas

    Mojo Monday #374
    Simon Says Stamp-Christmas/Holidays

Be sure to stop by Meljen's Designs to join in this awesome challenge.  And remember, we no longer require the use of a Meljen's Designs image to enter, but if you do use one, you get a double entry!!

Glory to God

Hey everyone!
I totally forgot it was Tuesday and that we are starting a new challenge today over at Tuesday Throwdown!!  Whoops :)

With the holidays in full swing, it seems every card I make or project I think up involves glitter or sparkle of some sort.  I try to clean up my desk and put everything away, and all the glitter bottles seem to just creep back out and stare at me.  But it's okay!  Christmas projects are meant to sparkle!

Which is perfect for our "Bling It On" challenge!!
Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish and they have provided some awesome images for the team to use!  I chose the Angel Chorus image and printed it on vellum.  I did that because I wanted to heat emboss the image with some sparkly powder and it wouldn't work on regular paper, but the printer ink stays nice and wet on vellum and gives me plenty of time to sprinkle the embossing powder on.  All that sparkle is so perfect for this image.

I used my new Mama Elephant Borderlines Trio set again for this card.  This scroll type die cut was the whole reason I chose to purchase this set, I just love it!  Since the image is on vellum, I needed to add something behind it.  So I chose some soft patterned paper that matched the elegance of this image perfectly and die cut them together.  Then layered some burgundy cardstock behind it and die cut that as well so it gave a nice border.

The rest of the card was left really simple.  I printed off a fitting sentiment from Doodle Pantry's Holiday Greetings set and layered that onto some ribbon.  To finish it off, I added just a few clear gems around the sentiment.  Not sure I'm sold on having those on the card yet, but they look nice anyhow.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafting When We Can #83-Clean and Simple
    Creative Inspirations #291-Christmas
    Fussy and Fancy #128-Holiday
    Time Out #19-Embossing with Sparkle
    Word Art Wednesday #160-Anything Goes

So be sure to stop by Tuesday Throwdown and join in the fun!!!

Mischievous Little Kitty

Hey everyone!!  Happy Monday!
Are you all recovered from the holiday last week?  I really miss having big Thanksgiving get togethers with the family...or even friends.
We tend to end up spending holidays alone now since we don't live near family and friends are scarce.  But it allows us to focus on our relationship and grow closer together.

With all this holiday stuff going on, it's slowly been getting me more and more into the Christmas mood.  I'm still struggling a little with it, not sure why...maybe I'm just not ready for the year to be over already.  But it's growing on me...and after getting our Christmas decorations up this weekend, I feel a little bit more giddy for Christmas.

I recently won a gift certificate to Newton's Nook.  That is a stamp company that totally speaks to my heart.  I can't get enough of all the adorable little kitty stamps they have!  Narrowing down my selection was incredibly difficult, but in the end I decided on the Newton's Antics set because it offered a little more versatility in being able to stretch those images for multiple occasions.  Today's card shows exactly that:
I know that Newton's Nook has a stamp set with an image included like this one, with the lights wrapped around the kitty.  But since I don't have that set, I used what I did have to create the image.  And I totally love it!  I colored the little kitty up like our darling Ezio because he is just the kind of cat that would get himself wound up in the Christmas lights :)

After coloring in all the little bulbs, I covered each one with a little bit of shimmer and a good coating of glossy accents.  It turned out exactly as I wanted it to!  Love it!

The rest of the card was just layered together with some coordinating papers.  I used a border die from the Mama Elephant  Borderlines Trio set for the bottom border, and heat embossed my sentiment in white to help it pop.

To help carry out the red, I coated some white enamel dots with a few layers of red stickles and let them dry before adding them to my project.  The cream background was stenciled over with a matching vanilla color in a checker pattern...I didn't want it to be just a plain color and the subtle pattern works really well, though you can't hardly see it in the picture.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
On a side note, I've added some new cards to my Etsy shop!  You can click "Here" to go straight there, or click on the My Etsy Shop tab up at the top to get a quick peak at the thumbnails of the cards. <3

Christmas Lights

Happy day after Thanksgiving!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful family day yesterday.

I'm stopping in real quick with a little reminder card for Sami Stamps!
This image is Christmas Lights Mermaid from the fabulous release last week!  I decided to try and do a deep ocean type look for my background.  It's kind of hard to see in this pic, but there is a subtle gradient to the blues so she looks like she's deep down in the ocean.  It's really pretty, and I misted it with some glimmer spray so it's super sparkly.

Since she's wrapped in Christmas lights, I tried to give them a little halo in the water.  I tried several things to get the look I wanted and ended up liking the chalk the best, but it's still really soft and a bit hard to see as well.

I went with a fun color scheme for all my papers since they matched the watery background the best and added some large sparkly snowflakes to finish it all off!

Our Anything Goes challenge is still open for a few more days, so run on over to Sami Stamps and join in!  Just be sure to use a Sami Stamps image!!

Thanks for stopping by! <3

Mistletoe Kisses - Sami Stamps Release!!!

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!!!!
It is time once again for a new Sami Stamps release!!  You're going to totally love this one, it's all about Christmas Mermaids!!  Eek!!  So fun!

For my card this week, I've used the lovely Mistletoe Kisses Mermaid.
I just love this image so much!  This card took me several attempts though...I had this really fun idea in my head to have some sort of watery swirled looking background behind the kissing mermaid and fish.  After a couple practices, I felt ready to put it on the card.  Well...first round I messed up big time and had to scrap it.  Second round, I sprayed the background too many times and it smeared quite a bit...but I went with it anyhow hoping to salvage it...and failed again.  I had tried to turn it into a shaker card and ended up loading so much stuff into the shaker that the image ended up covered completely...so scraped that.

And tried again.  This time, I went slow with my swirls and I carefully misted the background, checking after each spritz to make sure it wasn't too saturated.  And it turned out perfect!  To do the watery background, I just cut a couple of masks with a border die and swiped my ink blending tool away from it to get a faded line.

I printed off the image twice so I could get more of a 3D look by layering them together with foam tape in between.  To add a little more excitement to the present, I took some silver thread and wound it around in loops behind the bow.  I also stuffed a couple bows in the lower right corner to get a fun shoot of string there as well.

To finish it all off, I just scattered some pearls around the image and heat embossed my sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas Elegant Christmas stamp set (appears to be sold out since I can't find the link to it..)!!  That sentiment just seemed perfect for this lovey image! Fun fun!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    613 Avenue Create #98-Anything Goes/Hello
    Catered Crop-Anything Goes
    Crafty Catz #256-Winter Theme

Thanks For All You Do

Hey everyone!
Time for a new challenge at Meljen's Designs!  This weeks theme is Thank You.  Since I opened the gates on the Christmas cards yesterday, I figured I should keep with that theme a bit.  The Christmas type supplies have been sitting on my desk for weeks now, and my little pile of completed Christmas cards grows a little more each day, but I held off sharing them just because I wasn't ready for that season to be here yet.

But with the snow on the ground and the wind so cold your blood freezes...I figured it was time.  So for my card this week, I kept with the feeling of the holidays.
I used this super adorable image from Meljen's Designs called Cozy Little Chickadees.  I just adore this image.  They are so cute and snug together...and who can resist Chickadees!  The image has been colored in with my ShinHan markers and cut out with an oval die.  For the little snow piles on the branch, I "painted" on some embossing paste and covered it with some sparkly embossing powder before heat setting it so that it bubbled just a little.  It adds some fun texture and shine to the whole image.

Overall, this card is pretty simple.  The poinsettia came together super quick.  I just had to sit around and wait for it to completely dry before I could add it to my card.  I coated the strands of twine with some star dust stickles as well...so more waiting for that to dry.  Took quite a while, but in the end was totally worth it all!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps and More #122-Make Your Mark
Crafting When We Can #82-Use Your Markers
    Divas by Design-Let it Snow
Fussy and Fancy #127-Pairs or Two of a Kind
    Penny's Paper Crafty #204-Anything Goes

Be sure to swing by Meljen's Designs and join in our fun challenge!  Remember you don't have to use a Meljen's image, but you get a double entry if you do!!  Oh and don't forget about their sale!  You can read all about it in my post here.

Thanks for visiting! <3

First Official Christmas Card!

Hey Everyone!  Happy Tuesday!
Well, it's finally happening.  I am posting my first Christmas card of the year!  I've avoided it for so long, but now it must happen.  But I don't think there is a better card to start the season with than this one.
We start a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown and the challenge is Christmas Tags.  So I decided to add my tag to a fun card.  Our awesome sponsor this week is MyGrafico and they have provided the most adorable images for my team to use!  This sweet image that I've used on my card is from the Christmas Santa set!

I started off by using a couple of new Winnie & Walter products that I won from their most recent release.  I used the Scenery: Big Band Sci-Fi Star Creative Screenings and laid down a thin layer of embossing paste over it.  Once I removed the stencil, I covered all that embossing paste with some sparkly clear glitter.  I also added a few red splatters for extra interest.

For the tag, I took the new Peppermint Zone stamp and misted it with some perfect pearl/water mist.  Then set it right down on top of my festive berries inked piece of paper and "stamped" with the water.  Since distress inks react with water, this resulted in a faded look where the stamp was, but left behind all that shimmer from my pearl mist.  It's so awesome!  I know I'm going to have loads of fun with that stamp!

To finish off the tag before adding it to my card, I strung some twine through the top and then coated it with some multi medium matte, then wrapped it around a pencil so that it would curl.  I set that aside to dry while I worked on the images and sentiment.

The sentiment was cut with my silhouette about 4 times, layered together and then coated in glossy accents and glitter.  I colored up my images with my Shin Han markers and then fussy cut around them and adhered them onto my tag, adding just a little touch of red stickles to the holly berries.  Put everything together, and it was done!

I totally adore this card!  It was the perfect creation to pull me out of my multi-week lull of having nothing creative run through my mind.  And this card sparkles so much, I can't help but smile when I look at it!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Crafty Catz #255-Christmas is Coming

    Inky Impressions #185-Animals

Under the Mistletoe

Happy Monday!
It's all white and snowy here in Montreal today!  We had such a warm weekend that it was odd to wake up to the snow falling, but it hasn't stopped and I love it!

We are starting a new challenge today at Digi Makeover and it's Sparkle!  So perfect for this festive time of year when everything is all glittered and sparkly :)
I just love this sweet little couple under the mistletoe.  It's so precious how the little boy is holding her chin and she is so excited to get that kiss!

I printed off my image and colored it all in with my pencils.  Then added lots of glitter to the wings and mistletoe, as well as some glitter pen to the white dots on my background paper.
Overall I kept the layout very flat and simple, only popping up the mistletoe with some dimensional adhesive.  I have loved this color combination on all my Christmas cards this year.  Something about burgundy and olive green that just works so well.

I hope you will join us this week for our Sparkle challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!  <3

Christmas Joy

It's release day!!!  And Friday!  And a new challenge starts today!  Woot!
We have a fabulous new release at Sami Stamps today perfectly titled Christmas Joy.  I loved these images!  You can totally see the joy just pouring out of what Sami has drawn for us.  And it's paired with a fun challenge to use red or green on your project!

So I've kind of been addicted to making tags lately...seems odd I know...but they are just so cute and fun!
I love this Candy Cane Elf!  It is so perfect for Christmas!  And I thought she'd be adorable on a tag.  I had a different design worked out in my head, but when I got her all colored I sort of figured what I wanted to make wouldn't work.  So I fussy cut her out and worked from that.  I printed off a simple To/From tag and layered it under the candy cane.

The button is sewn on through the ribbon and I finished everything off with some glitter and sequins.

I would like to enter this tag into the following challenges:
    Delicious Doodles #65-Christmas/New Year
    Divas by Design-Feeling Festive

While surfing Pinterest a few days ago, I found a tutorial on how to use the MS punches to make them go all around the page, even if they don't come as a set like that.  I really wanted to give it a try so I rolled with it on this card.
I love how the frame turned out with this image!  I thought the hearts worked well with the lace and all together were perfect for this sweet Christmas Couple image!  Please forgive the horrible coloring of my tree...turns out that is one thing I am not good at coloring yet...need lots of practice.

Of course, no intimate moment in front of the Christmas tree is complete without the cat getting into mischief :)  So I added into this image a previously released image called Kitten Fun.

I added a simple sentiment stamp and some sparkly snowflakes to finish off the card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    A Creative Romance-Sparkle at Christmas
Stampin for the Weekend-Use Some Red
    There She Goes #236-Christmas Critters
Totally Gorjuss #212-Snows the Way to Go

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps and see the rest of this release, along with the amazing creations by the design team!  They are truly incredibly talented ladies, that group!! :)  And join in the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by! <3

Baked Goods!

Hi Everyone!
We are back from our Thanksgiving break at Tuesday Throwdown and starting a fabulous new challenge today!  The challenge is to use baking materials on your creation.  I know it sounds a little difficult, but once you sort of open up your mind and let it wander, I know you will be able to come up with something fun!

Try using food coloring as a mist, parchment paper for flowers, melting powdered sugar into pearls!  Get creative!
I decided to do a shaker card for this challenge.  I thought of putting a cupcake liner behind my image, but it seems everyone else on the team did that, so I skipped the liner to give everyone a few more ideas of what they could do for their creation :)

The image is Gingerbread Baby from our fabulous sponsor, Robyn's Fetish.  I colored it all in with my pencils and added white 3D paint to the squiggly detail lines.  My hope was that the paint would be a little sticky and some of the sprinkles would stick to it, but I don't think it worked out that way.

I used a plastic cover that my adhesive comes in for the shaker bubble and filled it with all sorts of Christmas sprinkles!  It's so cute and yummy looking!  I really love how it turned out!

Stop by the blog and check out the rest of the DT creations, and then join in the fun!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!!  <3
