Costume Party Spinner

Hey!! Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and are ready to tackle this new week!!  We have an fun new challenge for your at Inky Paws starting today!  It's a gorgeous Halloween photo inspiration!

For my card, I decided to use one of the new sets from Newton's Nook - Newton's Costume Party.  This set is so much fun!  I can't believe all the awesome costume designs you can use to dress up little Newton!!  There were so many...I just couldn't decide which to choose...so I went with all the hats!!
This card was quite interesting to put together.  I knew I wanted to have an interactive element in it so that the hats could spin around and fit on top of my kitties head.  But this sort of formed an issue with dimension since you need enough height for the elements to be above my kitty, but also below my background...I think I learned a few things that I can change to make it work out a little better next time.  But this card works pretty well, so I'm happy with it.  You just have to guide everything as your spinning it.
The bottom part of the card is layered up with some fun foam and a few extra border pieces to give it just a little bit extra height.  And then all the hats have foam tape just along the tops so that they slide right over top of my little Ezio kitties head.
I used a piece of acetate for the spinner so you can see the full background, and repeat stamped Eek! on the bottom panel for a bit of tone on tone detail.
This card is so much fun!  I just love all the hats on this adorable little kitty!!
I hope you will join us for this fun challenge over at Inky Paws!!

Flying Star Fairy

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!
I'm a bit late, but happy to tell you we have started a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!  This week it is all about Fantasy!!  Our fabulous sponsor, Alicia Bel, has some amazing images that fit this category perfectly and they have kindly provided my team with some to use.
I have chosen to use Flying with the Stars for my card.  This sweet little fairy is just so adorable on her happy little star!

I started my card by first applying some embossing paste through a star stencil and letting that dry.  Once it was dry, I applied a bunch of distress oxide inks over it to create a galaxy background.  The dimension on the stars give it some great texture and fun.  I also splattered the whole thing with some white and shimmer paints.

After the background was done, I colored up my cute fairy with some markers and added some shimmer and white gel pen to a few highlight areas.  Then fussy cut her out and arranged her, along with some die cut clouds to my galaxy.

The finishing touch was some Little Things by Lucy Candy Bright Pearls.  These matched so perfectly!  I loved scattering them around my card!!

I hope you will join us this week!

Meow-oween Fun!

Hey everyone!  Happy Monday!
Welcome to the second week of our sketch challenge at Inky Paws!!  Are you enjoying this sketch?  It is quite fabulous!  If you haven't joined us yet, you have just a few days left.  So check out the Inky Paws blog and join in!  Just remember to use some Newton's Nook Designs products!

This week I decided to pull out the Halloween stuff!  It's finally a bit cooler here in Washington...and we got rain!!  We haven't seen rain all summer...it's been a rough one for sure!  So with the rain, I needed to do something fall related.
This card was so much fun to put together!  As are most cards...but this super sweet image just makes me smile!  He's so proud of that pumpkin!

I decided to turn the sketch into a scene by making the circle in the center a spooky Halloween moon.  It's cut out separately so I could do some simple washy watercolor on it to get some fun details that I can't get very well with any other medium.  Around the moon though, I used several distress inks to blend out the deep sky and used some gold and white shimmer spray to add some splatters.

My sweet kitty from the Newton's Perfect Pumpkin set was colored up with my markers and fussy cut out.  I also colored and cut out several additional pumpkins to fill in the patch behind him, layering everything into the grass that I cut with the Land Borders Die.

The background mat was stamped with the little spiderweb image in the set and embossed with some clear sparkle powder.  And I wrapped some cord around the middle of the card to coordinate with the purple in his hat.

I hope you'll stop by and join us for this fun challenge!!

Toucan Hello!

Hi Hi!!  Happy Monday!!
We have a fabulous new challenge for you starting today at Inky Paws!!  It's an awesome new sketch!  I love working with sketches...they help to jump start the creativity.  So I hope to see lots of your creations using this fun sketch!
For my card, I started by stamping some stripes across the background with a really light grey ink and then trimmed that panel out with a stitched rectangle.

On a black die cut rectangle, I used the new Tropical Leaves Stencil and inked it up with some Distress Oxide inks.  Oxide's work great on black paper because they have a pigment property, so they sit on top of the paper and hold their color better.  While the stencil was still in place, I misted it with some shimmer mist so that the leaves have a bit of sparkle to them.

While the leaves dried, I stamped and colored up my images from the Toucan Party stamp set.  I loves these sweet toucans cuddled up next to each other!  Their so adorable!!  I fussy cut them out along with a few extra leaves and layered them onto a circle die cut that I had added a few really soft blended clouds to.

I flagged both ends of my little banner strip and stamped a simple Hi sentiment on each end, then layered that behind my images and placed that onto my leaf panel.

I hope you'll join us for this challenge!  Just remember to use some Newton's Nook products on your projects!!

Golden Hello

Hello hello!!
Welcome back!  Have you joined our Polka Dot Inky Paws challenge yet???  You totally should!

How about a little inspiration?
This card...was quite the process to make!  I had the idea in my head and it turned out pretty close to that vision...but it was a lot of steps to get it done!

I started by cutting a piece of heat resistant acetate to use as my front panel.  Then applied some embossing paste through a zig zag polka dot stencil and coated that with some gold embossing powder.  While that dried, I worked on my leaves.

To get some gorgeous coloring on those leaves, I did a washy watery background with some oxide inks, layering up a bunch of colors and splattering it with some water.  Once that was all dry, I clear embossed some leaves from the Falling for Autumn set.  I wanted to preserve all that fun oxide coloring but still add a bit of extra detail.  So clear embossing them worked out well.

Once I had them cut out, I did a little rock and rolling with the leaf stamps again in some Versamark ink so that just the edges were inked up and I could add some gold embossing powder.  They are so stunning!  The multi colored tone they have with the gold flecking around the outside...stunners!

I cut out my sentiment and gold embossed that as well as embossed the acetate panel that had now dried.  Assembled everything together with a black card base.  So gorgeous!!!

I hope you'll join us!  You only have a few days left so don't wait!!!
