Kitty Birthday Slider!

Hey there!!
Welcome back to another awesome Inky Paws challenge!!  For the next 2 weeks, we're challenging you to use Polka Dots on your cards!  This is such a fun challenge!  Polka dots are always a great accent to any card and they work for nearly any topic!
So as you know, I'm addicted to interactive cards.  They make me smile, even in the midst of their complexity.  But I couldn't help myself from making another one.  These kitties in the Newton's Birthday Bash set are just so much fun!

So I started with a piece of polka dotted paper in some bright pinks and greens.  It felt like a great color combo for a birthday card.  I added a little banner strip of pink polka dotted paper down the middle as well.

For the focal frame, I colored up the kitty with the presents with some copic markers and trimmed him out to add to the front of my slider.  Then use a couple of die cuts to make my frame and sliding mechanism.

To add a fun little element to the slider, I added another image to the area that you pull up.
Hehe!  I just love the little kitty flying on the balloon!  As he floats up, your sentiment is revealed below.  So much fun!!!

I hope you will join us for this awesome challenge!  Don't forget to use a Newton's Nook product!

Thanks so much for visiting! <3

Congrats Onesies!

Hey!!  Happy Monday!
Have you joined us for our current Inky Paws Challenge yet?  It's a totally gorgeous color combo and I don't want you to miss out!

I'm here with another inspiration piece for you to help get your creativity flowing.
This card was so much fun to put together!  How can you not love coloring up some absolutely adorable little onesies?  They are just so cute!
Here is the your inspiration image for the current challenge:

For my card, I started off my coloring up some super cute onesies from the Loveable Laundry set.  I wanted them to be white onesies so I just used some light greys to add in the shadows.  Then took combos of the inspiraiton colors and filled in the details on each onesie.

I layered all of them onto an oval that I blended some soft clouds onto with some chalk.  To give these cute onesies a little motion, I used the Mama Elephant Celebration Balloons and attached strings to the bottom of each balloon to then attach to the onesies where the little clothes pins are.  I did a little 2 tone shading on the balloons before coating them in shimmer and glossy accents.

All of this is layered onto woodgrain paper and matted with a teal and magenta colored frame.  I scattered a few glitter dots around the card for just a bit more sparkle and shine.

I hope you'll join us for this gorgeous color challenge!

Hello hello!!

How pretty is that!?  *swoon!
Here is your inspiration image:

For my card, I blended shades of teal and magenta with some black and then did a little shimmer splattering for some fun detail.  Then layered up this gorgeous die cut from Lil'Inker Desigsn with about 4 layers so it had some nice solid dimension to it.  Adhered that to my blended panel and then worked on the rest of the details.

I think I spun in circles over how to get the butterflies to look nice on this card panel.  White embossing didn't look very nice...they just didn't pop all that well.  So I tried adding color on top...coloring in the back with copics...using pearl embossing powder...nothing seemed to work.

Usually I avoid black embossing powder because it can be pretty messy and not give a crisp result.  But I decided to give it a shot because I just needed to find a solution.  And it worked!  It was so stunning, I had to use them!  So I embossed up a couple more butterflies in black and trimmed them out.

I cut out a heart to be my focal point for the sentiments.  From the same Beautiful Wings set, I took out the little flower and used a 4th generation stamping with some Worn Lipstick Oxide ink.  I wanted it to be super light but since it was black cardstock, I needed to use a pigment ink.  So it took the 4th generation to get it light enough to be just noticeable but not take over the whole card.  I did mist it just a little with some water to help brighten it a tiny touch.

Then I layered up my sentiments and arranged my butterflies.  Love this card so so much!!!

I hope you will join us for this challenge!  Give this gorgeous color combo a shot.  Just remember to use a Newton's Nook product!

Wishing...

Hello hello!!!!  Happy Friday!!!
Who loves unicorns?  Pshh...everyone loves unicorns!  You are going to love the new Sami Stamps release then!  Cuz it's all about unicorns!!

We're also starting a new challenge for this month to Use Bright Colors, which is perfect with these adorable images!
I always think of swirling clouds high up in the sky when I think of unicorns, so I went with that idea for my card today.  I used some pinkish purple distress inks and blended them out around a cloud stencil until my entire card front was covered with bright clouds.

Then I layered a few vellum clouds over top and a scallop cut piece of cardstock to help ground my sentiment strip.

I colored up my Rose Unicorn with some pencils and added a ton of shimmer to her mane and tail.  Foam mounted her onto my panel and that was it!

I hope you'll join us this month!  Just remember to use a Sami Stamps image!

Thanks so much for stopping by! <3

Reach for the Stars

Hello hello and Happy Tuesday!
I hope the beginning of your week has been fabulous!  We're still dealing with some pretty bad air here in Washington...lots of smoke coming down from different wild fires in the state and British Columbia.  While I've wanted to work in the yard since the weather has been nice, my lungs have told me not to...so what better than to spend it working on cards!

We start a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown, and it's one of my favorites!  We want to see your Interactive Cards!  This can be any sort of interactive style from a slider, to a wobble card, anything you can think of!

And our most amazing sponsor this week is Newton's Nook!!!!!
(pppssssttt... Newton's Nook is having a flash sale for International Cat Day (August 8 only).  Use code CATDAY17 to get free shipping on US orders!!  Woot woot!!! )
I can never get enough Newton's Nook..and being on their Inky Paws Inspiration team right now means you see a lot of their stamps on my blog.  But they are just too cute, so I'm happy to flood my feed with Newton cards :)

For today's card, I actually had created this background for one of the Inky Paws challenges, but it ultimately didn't work with what I needed, so I set it aside to use for something else.  And then today's Tuesday Throwdown challenge showed up and it just seemed to fit perfectly.  I pulled out the Cosmic Newton set and colored up the cute little Rocket Kitty.

That background...I can't get over how awesome it turned out!  I used some distress inks in Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot to blend out a deep dark spacey sky and then used the same colors minus the black to add in Earth.  I brought in some white pigment ink to help give the look of clouds around Earth and that also helped to add the atmosphere halo.

I stenciled on a few little star bursts in the white pigment ink, and then did a little splattering of white shimmer paint before die cutting out my slider track.
And my little kitty can rocket out into space!  The sentiment is heat embossed with a black sparkle embossing powder.

I hope you will join us this week for your chance to win an awesome prize from Newton's Nook!!

I'd like to enter this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Splatter It challenge.

Thanks for visiting! <3

Let's Hang Out!

Hello hello and happy Monday!!
Stopping in to share a little reminder card for our current Inky Paws sketch challenge!  You have just a couple of days left to enter, so don't miss out!
For my card today, I've used the Hanging Around set.  This set is retiring and I've been told there are only a few left, so be sure to snatch yours up soon before it's gone!

I started by embossing my background panel and cutting it apart into 3 different sized stripes.  Then applied a very light blend of color from the bottoms fading up to white at the tops, and adhered all of those down onto a light grey cardstock.

Then, to make this card a little fun, I decided to have my koala swinging along the card!  So I cut a little track in my front panel, stamped my branch a couple of times, and hung the koala onto one of them!  So now he slides back and forth!

So super fun!  I'm addicted to making interactive cards right now and this one just fit so perfect with the stamp set!  To finish it all off, I stamped a coordinating sentiment and a few little lines to mimic ribbon and then clear embossed them.  Added a few white Nuvo drops and that was it!

Thanks so much for stopping by! <3
