Daffodil Dreams!

Happy Tuesday!
We're starting a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown - Creative Borders!  This can be any type of border...just do what makes you happy!
For my card, I used a border punch that I have had forever.  I wanted to use a scallop lace type border punch but turns out, that one is broken...guess I used it too much :)

I started by trimming my card base way down.  I wanted to make this card be "off the edge" so I needed to be sure my base was small enough to accommodate for the height of the daffodils.  Then I set to stamping my flowers using the Daffodil Dreams set from Sunny Studio who is our fabulous sponsor this week!  I used a couple of inks from Lawn Fawn for my flowers, doing a little bit of second generation to get different shades.  Then to enhance the shadows a little bit, I brought in a few colored pencils to do some shading.  Not much, but just touches here and there and I think it really added some nice depth.

I chose a sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh and stamped it in black and then clear embossed it.  Scattered a few clear sequins around the card and put little black dots in the centers.  I should have stamped my sentiment a little bit higher on the panel...there's just a big empty spot in the middle that I really don't like...but I wasn't starting over so oh well :)

I hope you will join us this week for our Creative Borders challenge!

Thanks for visiting! <3

Exciting News to Share!!

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!
I don't have a card to share with you today...it has been way too busy and waaayyyyy too hot to be standing at my desk trying to craft with sweaty palms...just doesn't work.

But I wanted to swing by and share with you some really really exciting news!
I have joined the new Newton's Nook Inspiration Team for their Inky Paws Challenges!!!!!!
There aren't enough words to explain how exciting this is for me.  Newton's Nook has been a game changer for me in card making.  When I started making cards oh so long ago...I remember being so disappointed that there weren't really any cat stamps.  While I loved all the other critters available, I'm a crazy cat lady and that was what I desired to put on cards.

And then along came Newton's Nook.  Their products are the perfect filler in the missing cat category and I find myself constantly reaching for them.  Of course, they have other amazing stamps too that I love to use...I'm just always drawn to the cats...it's who I am :)

I am so excited to work on this new team with some awesome crafters to bring you weekly inspiration using some of the products I have fallen in love with.

While you anxiously await my first inspiration piece, you can check out the retirement sale that Newton's Nook is having right now.  These products are while supplies last, so don't wait to snag them up and add them to your collection!  There are a lot of great stamps that I'm sad to see go, but it just means there will be more room for other awesome designs!!

You can find all the sale items in the Retiring Products section.

Until next time!  Thanks for stopping by! <3

Still My Hero

Happy Tuesday!
We have a great new challenge for you today at Tuesday Throwdown - For the Men!  Perfect time to get those Father's Day cards put together!

Our awesome sponsor is Doctor Digi!  I'm so glad to have this sponsor on our schedule this year!  They have the best humor images ever and so many of them are perfect for Father's Day!

When I saw this image, I knew I needed to use it...it's quite perfect if you know the type of interests my husband and I have.
This is Spider Stan from Doctor Digi.  My husband is a huge Spiderman fan and I know he will be till the day he dies...so this image just felt so perfect for me to have in my collection.  While he is still able to flip and jump and do crazy things like Spiderman, someday that may change.  But I know that even then, he will still be my hero :)

I started the card by creating a burst background with red and black distress inks and splattering it with some water and shimmer spray.  While that dried, I colored up my image with some Copic markers in the traditional Spiderman attire.

Then stamped and embossed a banner to write my sentiment on.  I'm still practicing my hand lettering, but after about a trillion attempts, I finally got one that I liked so I quickly traced it out with a lettering marker and added a little shading around the banner.

The final touches were some black enamel dots.

I hope you'll join us this week for our For the Men challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! <3

Father's Day Wobbler

Why hello there :)
It's been a while!  Can I just say that I don't even know what happened to May.  It started...then I blinked and it was gone.  But believe me...it was packed with adventure!  I got to spend a week in Georgia with my sister and niece, soaking up as many snuggles as I could while Matthew traveled off to Spain for work.  Then the week after that trip I took part in a 2 day street fair in Seattle.  That was only my second ever fair and it was FANTASTIC!  I really can't wait to get my little business into more street fairs now!

Then Memorial Day weekend and time spent with friends, and then here we are.  Already at June.  So lets kick this month off proper with a new challenge at Sami Stamps and some fun inspiration for ya!
I just love this little bow tie from Sami Stamps.  It's like my go-to image for Father's Day cards lately.  There are so many possible techniques and ideas to use with it.  I decided to challenge my coloring a little bit on this one and used an image of an actual bow tie as my guide.  Ultimately, I think it turned out amazing!  Best bow tie I've ever colored :)

Since it's a Father's Day card, I wanted to keep it relatively simple.  You can't really add a lot of bling and jazz to man cards...I think that's why they are so hard to make.  Nothing ever feels complete without shimmer and shine! (which I did sneak in there on the "rock" wording :) )

With the card being overall pretty simple, I needed to spice it up a little.  So why not add an action wobble!!!  I placed one of the mini wobbles behind the bow tie and stuck it down to my front panel.  It reminds me of those spinning bow ties that clowns wear to spray people with water.  But it's so cool!  Really jazzes this card up and makes it a ton of fun!

Our challenge this month is to add something glossy or shiny.  I hope you will join us!  Just be sure to use a Sami Stamps image.

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!!!
