Christmas Kitties

Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving yesterday!  It was business as usual here in Canada since our Thanksgiving was in October...but we will have a few people over on Saturday to do a nice turkey dinner :)

So today we have an adorable new release from Sami Stamps!  I know...I say that every time.  But they just are!  Always adorable!  So today's release is titled Christmas Paws, which of course stole my heart right away :)
My first card shows the image Curious Presents.  I sort of struggled with the coloring on this one at first...the papers I was using just weren't working for me...but I had already cut them out and didn't want to start over...but I got so frustrated with it that I threw it to the side and gave in to starting over.  And I'm so glad I did because the second round turned out much better!  I printed off and die cut out my image and then paper pieced all the presents and some of the kitties so that the dimension was right on them.

The kitties are colored to sort of match the colors of my kitties, though I only have 3 so I colored the last one in the colors of the next kitty I want to get (which will be never because 3 drive me crazy enough!  lol...)

I pulled out some Christmas ribbon I bought last year (and never opened) and wrapped it around the top with a bow.  The little Christmas light string was actually a border around one of the papers I used, so I trimmed the lights out and stuck them under the ribbon.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Divas by Design-Use Red
    Tuesday Morning Sketches #226

I went a little bit different of a route with my next image.
When I saw this sweet Ornament Kitty image, I couldn't get the idea of putting it on a shaker ornament out of my head!  He just looked like he needed to be looking out a window at something.  So I die cut out a frame and put a bunch of little kitty buttons and glitter on the inside, along with a really old picture of our little princess-Cloud and closed it all up with foam tape.

I colored up my image and stuck it down so the little kitty was looking at Cloud.  Then glittered up some clear snowflakes, added a ribbon, and stuck on some little jingle bells!  I'll have to reopen the ornament to swap out the picture when I get some printed off from this year.  But for now, I like what's in there :)

I'd like to enter this project into the following challenges:
    Catered Crop-Animal House
    Crafting with Dragonflies #16-Christmas Ornament

Stop by Sami Stamps and check out the rest of the images and the DT creations!  They are fabulous as always!!

Thanks for visiting! <3

Poinsettia Wishes

We finally have snow!!!  Granted, yes, it's raining now so the snow will probably all be gone by the end of the day...but I can hope that the flood gates have been opened and that gorgeous white stuff will come back to stay soon :)

So I'm back with another Christmas card today!  Tis the season right :)
I had a little fun with this one.  It was an idea that I had swirling around in my mind for the longest time when I saw the new Lawn Fawn stamp set Our Friendship Grows.  I was nervous to try it, but I finally overcame my fear and busted this project out...and it is amazing!
I just can't get over how gorgeous the poinsettia turned out!  I'm no pro at coloring my images with my markers...still very much a beginner in that area, and reds sort of scare me the most...but man, it's so pretty!

When I first made the poinsettia, I wasn't sure what I was going to put it on.  So I just made up a simple little background with the fun little dotted swirl from the Critters in Costume set from Lawn Fawn.  It's just heat embossed in clear for the subtle design.  But then I saw the sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketch and new that it was perfect!

I paired up some coordinating papers and popped everything together with some dimensional adhesive.  The red twine is from The Twinery and I die cut out a little sentiment from Verve Stamps.

I couldn't help but play with that fun little folder tab at the top.  It was screaming to have something behind it, so I made the front of the card into a gift card holder.
When I showed it to Matthew, he made the suggestion of adding something to the gift card slip so that it would be easier to pull it out.  So, I need to think of what I want that to be :)

But I totally love this card!  And I already have several more sunflowers stamped out and colored up ready to be made into poinsettias :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Corrosive Challenge #188-Happy Holidays
    Lawnscaping Challenge #70-Polka Dots
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #198

Thanks for stopping by!!  And have a fabulous Thanksgiving week!!! <3

Caroling Snowmen

Hello everyone!
I do hope that the start of your Tuesday has been fabulous!

I wanted to stop in quick and share a card I've been working on for a few days.  Not that it's a complicated card...but I started working on it Friday but had to let things dry which resulted in me walking away from it for the weekend and only just finishing it last night :)
I've seen this image around quite a bit now that the weather is turning colder, and I knew I just had to have it.  So with Meljen's current sale, I stocked up on a few of her images :)  This is Caroling Snowmen and they are just so cute!  I've colored them all in with mostly my ShinHan markers, but I used Copics for the reds since I haven't added any red's to my ShinHan collection yet.  Then I went back through and added lots of sparkle to all the details.

The large snowflake behind the image is an ornament I bought last year on clearance.
I used a stamp set I won from Damask Love for the sentiment banner, and heat embossed it in clear so it had a little character.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    ABC Christmas-Winter Wishes
    Color Me Creative #82-Anything Goes

Christmas Tags

Happy Monday!!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  We are starting a new challenge today at Digi Makeover and it's perfect for the season.  We are challenging you to make a set of tags!  So 2 or more!  They can be for any occasion if you wish too!

I decided to stick with Christmas.  I don't often make tags, but they are so fun, I think I might try to add them in to my crafting a bit more :)
I used an awesome holiday sentiment from the Season Greetings set at Paper Makeup.  It's layered on to a couple of scallop die cuts and decorated with a holly image from the Color it Winter Set.

I die cut out a tag with my Silhouette and sprayed the whole thing with some gold glimmer mist.  You can't see it at all in the pictures, but the sparkle is so gorgeous and perfect for a Christmas tag.

I finished off the tags with a simple snowflake punch and some red and green twine to tie off the bow.
These tags are perfect to add to bottles, as displayed here on a bottle of our homemade blueberry wine :)

I hope you will join us this week!  We love seeing everyone's amazing creations!! <3

Here For You

I hope everyone has had an awesome weekend!  Bitter cold here but no snow :(  Hoping that the weather reports are correct and the week will be filled with that pretty white stuff!!

I wanted to pop in real quick and share a card I made this weekend for a friend.  She just lost her father and I'm hating that I'm on the completely opposite side of the country from her...I just want to wrap her in my arms!  But I guess for now a card will have to (hopefully) fill the gap.
It's just a simple card, but I love the whole thing.  I used the stamp set Our Friendship Grows from Lawn Fawn and colored the sunflowers in with my purple pencils.  I think they turned out pretty good!

The sentiment is from Create with TLC and I just did a simple little flagged end for it.  A little purple twine and some white liquid pearls were added to finish off the card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Deconstructed Sketch #128
    Lawnscaping Challenge #70-Polka Dots
    Word Art Wednesday #107-Anything Goes

Happy Winter

Well, while we haven't really seen any snow fall here in Montreal yet, winter is definitely here.  Other than this past weekend, it's been below freezing pretty consistently.  Just wish the gorgeous white stuff would start flying.

Our new challenge starting today at Tuesday Throwdown is Snowbirds!  I always love watching the birds flutter around in the snow.  I remember when I was younger, trudging out in waist high snow to fill the bird feeders and waiting patiently with a hand full of bird seed to see if one of them would hop down and eat from my hand.  It didn't happen very often, but it was so exciting when it did!

The sponsor for this week is MyGrafico.  They always provide us with such adorable images, and this week is no exception.
I just love this cute little penguin in his hat and scarf.  My original plan was to include an igloo behind him and have a couple more birdies in the scene, but it didn't fit too well together so I just stuck with the one.  I clear embossed the snowflakes and then used some cotton balls with my ink pads to shade out the sky.  Cut a few snow drifts and covered the edges with some Wink of Stella clear glitter pen.

I hope you will join us this week for our Snowbirds challenge!!  Be sure to check out the rest of the design teams creations, they are adorable!!

Thank You Chocolate

Happy Monday everyone!
This weeks challenge over at Digi Makeover is Thank You!
I may have stretched the theme a little bit with my card this week...but I love this Hershey image sooooo much and the sentiment was so perfect in describing my feelings towards chocolate after my crappy week last week...so this is what I used :)

Hershey is colored in with my ShinHan markers.  I'm slowly getting more and more comfortable with using those.  My collection is still quite small, but I have a good variety of colors to play with while I save up to expand.

I think the image could have gone without the dotted outline...I thought it would be a good idea, and once it was done wished I hadn't added it...But once it's on, it can't come off, so I moved forward.

Added a white button with some brown twine and tucked my flagged sentiment from Create with TLC under the button...and that was it!

Hope you will join us this week at Digi Makeover for our Thank You challenge!!

Adorable Birthday Animals

I am so beyond happy that it is finally Friday!
What a not so grand week I've had...was sick over the weekend (which caused me to miss my Paper Makeup DT creation...), computer crashed on me Monday, internet broke on Tuesday, Wednesday was overloaded with catching up from the last several days...and the list goes on..

But I'm happy everything is settled back down to normal and I can show you this awesome new Sami Stamps release, because let me tell you, it's adorable!!

Sami drew up some Birthday Animals for this release, and I had a blast creating with them!
This first image is called Birthday Surprise and I just love it!  The cake looks so delicious, and the sweet little kitty on top is so cute!  I went girlie on this card...couldn't get the idea of a pink cake out my head so I just decided to roll with it.

I colored up the cake with my ShinHan markers and added some glitter pen to the platter and candles, and some liquid pearls to the dotted layers.

I used a sentiment stripe from Beccy's Place and printed it on vellum.  To color the little flower, I flipped the vellum over and drew on the back.  It was a technique I watched a video on a few weeks ago, and they made it into like a stained glass image.  Not sure mine turned out that way, but I thought it worked well coloring on the back instead of smearing the ink on the front.
Then I just layered that onto a MS Lace Edge punched border and put everything together!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
As You Like It #15-Spots or Stripes? (I love spots!!  As you can see from both of my cards :) )
    Card Mania #33-Anything Goes
    Creative Creations #23-Sparkle and Shine

Since I went super girlie with my kitty, I went in the opposite direction for this card.
Isn't he cute!!  This is Balloon Puppy.  So freaking cute!  And you can get him free with any purchase from the Sami Stamps store!!

I colored him in with my pencils instead of my markers.  Have to pull them out once in awhile still :)

I used my ShinHan's to add the little dots around him though.  I coordinated up some brown and green scraps and put them all together with some light green twine wrapped behind the image.  And I couldn't help myself with the sentiment...he just had the curious look on his face that was perfect!  So I printed it off and flagged the ends to finish off the card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Artistic Inspirations #67-Use a Sentiment
    Sunday Sketch and Stamp #182
    That Craft Place-Sentiment

Thinking of You Acorn Birdie

It's Friday, it's Friday!!  I totally love Fridays!...as I'm sure you probably know by now :)

I want to say a big huge whopping hello to my new followers!!!  I love you guys :)  Thank you so much to all of you that visit me each week and leave me such sweet comments!  They really are the icing on the cake and make me smile <3

So today I'm sharing a card that I mentioned to you last Friday with my For a Cause card.  We had a new release at Sami Stamps last week Friday called Fall Acorns and For a Cause.  These images were so adorable!  I just couldn't help but playing along with one from each group.

I also wanted to remind you that we have a new challenge going on over there.  The theme is Clean and Simple!  All you have to do is follow that theme and use a Sami Stamps image to enter!  Check out the freebies section in her shop if you don't have any of her images.  You're going to want them all...I promise you :)
So my recent trip to the craft store landed me a couple sheets of some Lawn Fawn paper...and I can't stop using them!!  They are absolutely perfect and they worked so well for this card!

I did my best at clean and simple...it's hard sometimes when you have such an adorable image to use!  This image is Little Acorn Bird.  I fell in love with him the minute I saw him and knew I needed to use him on a card!  I printed him off twice and used one of the print offs to ink up the leaf.  I used my cheap ink pads so it isn't as stunning as I wanted, but I still think it turned out pretty good.

Then on the other print off, which was on some Neenah paper, I colored in my bird and acorns with my ShinHan markers.  I didn't want to go with a brown bird for this card...with the leaf and acorns, I felt like there was too much brown.  So I opted for a blue bird :)  Once I layered the leaf onto the image, it almost looked like the bird was sitting inside the leaf...so I had to print off and cut out the bird again so it was layered on top of the leaf.

The last simple elements were some glitter pen, a fun coordinating button and little flags from some more Lawn Fawn paper.  Oh and I stamped a simple sentiment under the image.

Hope you will stop by and join in our challenge!  You could win a gift certificate to the Sami Stamp store and snag up this sweet image!!

Altered Salsa Jar

I've been working on getting this jar all done up and decorated for the past few days.
Normally I just wash out our salsa or spaghetti jars and throw them in the recycle, but I decided to try and do something with this one.

So I pulled out my white acrylic paint and started adding layers.  Using spray paint probably would have been better and prettier, but the acrylic was what I had on hand and was faster/less messy.
Because it's all white, my camera had a little trouble taking good pics..so I apologize for that.
I have no idea what I'm going to use this jar for yet, but I knew that I wanted to use this fun Genie image from Saturated Canary.  I bought this stamp sometime around May and still haven't inked it up...so decided it was time!
I colored it in with my ShinHan markers and layered it onto a scallop cut oval.  I was a little sketchy about the skin color at first...it seemed really yellow and made her look like she had jaundice.  But once I got all the other colors added to the image, that yellow was muted out.  I loved coloring her hair pink!  It's a bit brighter than I was expecting, but it still looks super awesome!!

I added a heart shaped doily behind the frame just for some added sweetness.  Then used a Martha Stewart Lace Edge punch to make my border for around the jar. Layered that with some pink leopard print paper (of course!) and 2 layers of coordinating ribbon, which I also made a nice big bow with.
For the top, I cut out a scallop circle and layered on the genie bottle from the stamp set.  I've added some kaleidoscope embossing powder to both the top and the image for some extra sparkle.  The stamped sentiment says "May all your wishes come true."  I tried to make it look like it was in a smoke cloud with my chalks, but that didn't turn out too well...
Then just added some pearls around the image and it was done!  And I love it :)

Hip Hip Horray!

I wanted to squeeze this post in real quick before shutting down for the night.  It was made following the sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and that closes in a few hours and I don't want to miss that deadline :)

I got a request for a custom birthday card from a family member last week.  She wanted it for her daughter who is a cheerleader.  But instead of doing normal school colors, she wanted to include pink since the school had done a "pink out" football game in support of breast cancer research and the cheerleaders loved it.  So I rolled with that, and this is the result:
I absolutely love how this card turned out!!  It's all pink and girlie but still has the dark green in the background representing the school.  And how adorable is that Meljen's Designs image?  This little Cheer Girl was the first thing that popped into my mind to use when the card was requested and it worked out perfect!

I added a lot of sparkle to the banner and pom poms as well.  The daisy paper is already loaded with glitter so the whole card just sparkles.  I really hope the birthday girl likes it :)

Here's the inside as well.  Nice and simple.

In Love With Sunflowers

Happy Tuesday!
We're starting a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown and the theme is Tag It!
I don't often make tags...even though they are super fun and can be used for just about anything.  But they aren't something that pops into my head when I'm searching for ideas.  So I loved stepping out and giving it a go this week.
Our fabulous sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish and they have provided us with some adorable images to use on our projects!  I chose to use the Sunflower1 image because I have been obsessing about sunflowers a lot lately...well for awhile now...I just love them.

So I printed off the sunflower 3 times at varying sizes.  They've all be colored in with my ShinHan markers.  I've really been enjoying using those lately!

The tag is cut out with my Silhoutte and I added a large eyelet at the top for the ribbon the go through.  Then I just layered everything up on foam adhesive so the sunflowers popped and added the cute tag with a sentiment from Lawn Fawn.

It's so cute!  I'd say it was quick but it really wasn't...those sunflowers took forever to color and cut out :)  But it was worth it!

I'd like to enter this project into the following challenges:

The Sugar Plum Fairy

Happy Monday!
It's quite the chilly one here!  They keep saying it's supposed to snow and then changing their minds...I'm kind of ready to see that pretty white stuff flying through the air!

We're starting a new challenge today at Digi Makeover and it's Lots of Layers!  My cards have taken on a more simple style lately, but I always love a good pile on for a card once in awhile :)
Ok so there aren't as many layers on here as what I thought I'd be adding.  But when I got it all together, it looked just fine without too much more.  I used the sweet image Sugar Plum Fairy (per my hubby's suggestion :) ) from Paper Makeup and colored her in with my pencils.  I added a bunch of glitter to her wings and around her dress and crown.

While digging through my overflowing drawer of embellishments, I found a pack of glittery snowflakes I had bought last year but never opened.  So I pulled them out and tested them on this card to see how it would look.  Once I found the right position, it was obvious it needed to be added :)  So I topped it with a bow.

I added some Opal White liquid pearls around the corners and along the sides of the center frame.  And finished the card off with 2 red pearls next to the image.

I still feel like it needs something else along the bottom, but can't really think of anything that would look good there...

Anyhow, be sure to pull out all your layers and join in the fun with us at Digi Makeover!!  Check out the rest of the DT's awesome creations as well!

For A Cause

Yay!  It's release day at Sami Stamps AND Friday!!  Double awesome!!
Sorry it's been quiet around here lately...been a bit of a busy week and not much crafting has happened...but I hope to change that today :)

So we have a new release today that is also accompanied by the start of a new challenge over at Sami Stamps!  As always, Sami has created some incredible images that I know you will just love!

There are two themes for this release:  Fall Acorns (come back next Friday to see my card for this set) and For a Cause.
Following the theme of the new challenge, I've kept my card Clean and Simple.  Sort of.  I decided I wanted to try making my own background with this card.  So I clear embossed some flowers and hearts onto white card stock and then took some pink, purple, and blue ink pads and used a cotton ball to apply the ink to the paper.  Now, my ink pads are pretty crappy...and the cotton balls I used were worse...so the ink didn't spread as nicely as I wanted it to.  But in the end I think it looks ok.  The little splotchy parts seem to work even if they weren't intended.

I used my ShinHan markers on the image.  I've been slowly adding to my collection, but I've been too scared to give them a try since I haven't practiced using markers very much.  But I think the image turned out super cute!  I just love that sweet butterfly!

I added some Flamingo liquid pearls around the background and a few places on the ribbon.  And that was it!  Pretty clean and simple :)

Be sure to stop by and join in our Clean and Simple challenge!  And definitely check out the rest of the DT's creations for this release, they are amazing!!

Thanks for stopping by!! <3
