Flakes

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  We did a whole lot of nothing, which is always nice!  Still trying to get over this head cold that has plagued us both for a few weeks now...not fun at all!

Before I get to my DT creation, I wanted to remind you of the different ways you can follow my little blog here!  You can follow on Facebook, Bloglovin, via the little Google Friend Connect option over there on the right, or you can follow my Pinterest page!  I'd love to have you stick around!!

So on to my creation for this week.  Our new challenge starting today at Paper Makeup is to Use Your Scraps!  Yes!!  Who doesn't have a mile high pile of scraps to use up?  I know I do!  I try and try to use them up but somehow I always end up making more!
I figured since snow season is right around the corner, that I'd make something appropriate for that.  I have all sorts of snowflake paper scraps so I decided to try and make a little gradual snowfall scene.  I used the darkest snowflake paper on top and then gradually lightened it up as the snow fell.  I cut out a few snow drifts and inked them with some blue ink.  It's a little darker than I wanted, but it's about the only blue ink pad I have that still works well enough for this.  So I rolled with it :)

I printed off my snowman from the Snow Happy set from Paper Makeup and colored him in with my colored pencils.  I also printed off the fun sentiment - All my friends are flakes - and cut that out in a scallop frame.

To help tie in the orangish yellow on his scarf, I used some orange twine across the top and made a bow to tuck the sentiment under.  I finished everything off with a few touches of my new Wink of Stella glitter pen so things sparkled :)

Such a fun card!  I hope you will join us this week!  Pull out your scraps and use a digi on your project!!  Can't wait to see what you create!! Oh and while your at the challenge blog, welcome our new teammate Marsha!!  So happy she has joined us!! <3

Witchy Wednesday

Happy Tuesday!
Returning to normal life after vacation is hard...wouldn't it be nice to just be on vacation forever?...

We're starting a new challenge today at Tuesday Throwdown and the theme is Creepy Crawlies!!  I'm kind of sad because I'm pretty sure this will be the last Halloween card I make this year...it's time to move on to a new holiday and I am way too far behind on Christmas to put it off any longer...so it's time for me to pack up the Halloween papers.  But I love Halloween...so I will relish in this one last card :)
Our fabulous sponsor this week is Simply B Stamps.  I just love their stamps, so perfect for Halloween!  I chose to use Witchy Wednesday for my card and colored her up in some fun colors with my pencils.  I added a touch of glitter pen to her eyes as well cuz I love glitter :)

I left the details pretty simple.  Just some little flags along the bottom and a double ribbon bow behind the image.  There are a few little spiders drawn in around the image.  Another fun thing I like to add to my Halloween cards :)

I hope you will join us this week for this fun challenge!!  Also, be sure to follow me on Facebook and/or Bloglovin!  Been kind of quiet around here with not many new followers lately and I'm feeling a little lonely <3

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!

Witchy Fairy

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous week and weekend!  It was so nice for Matthew and I to get away from it all for a little bit!  We rented a cabin down in Corinth, Vermont and it was just the perfect little place to relax!  We are so in love with the mountains and being able to wake up each morning to the sun shining on them so beautifully for us was just perfect!  Here's what the view was from the living room of the cabin:
Gorgeous right!?  Couldn't have asked for a better vacation with my hubby :)  <3

We are starting a new challenge today at Digi Makeover!  It's a photo inspiration, and while I know a lot of people shy away from photo inspirations (I do...guilty...) this one is perfect for the season, and I know it will be an easy one for everyone to play along with!  So here's the photo:
And here is my creation to go along with it:
I loved everything about that fun front porch arrangement.  The colors were perfect and had just a bit of a Halloween touch to them, so I rolled with them.  I used Witchy Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps.  She seemed just perfect for this card.

I distressed all the edges pretty roughly with my scissors.  I love doing that on Halloween cards :)  The frames are cut with my Silhouette, and I used some orange and yellow chalk around the image frame.

A couple strands of ribbon to coordinate with the inspiration photo and it was all done!  Love how it turned out :)

I hope you will join us this week!  Be sure to visit the rest of the makeup artists to see their fabulous creations as well!  Then pull out your digi's and join in the fun!  <3

Witches and Wiskers

Happy Friday!
Well right now I am off in the middle of nowhere Vermont spending a much needed week of doing nothing with my husband.  It's our 10 year anniversary getaway and I'm so happy that we finally got to do something!  Especially since it's in the mountains :)

So today is a new release at Sami Stamps, and I just absolutely love these new images!!  I say that every time, I'm sure...because Sami just does such an awesome job with her releases!!  This release is called Fashionable Halloween-Witches and Whiskers, which means more kitties!!!

This first image I used is called Witch Beauty.
I loved the sweet little kitty peaking around her skirt, it's so adorable!!  I paper pieced the dress and left the card pretty simple (mostly because I was in a bit of a hurry to get packed for our vacation).  I made a cute little rosette with some of my new orange washi tape, and then cut out a perfect sentiment from Create with TLC.

This second image is called Witch and Whiskers, and oh-my-gosh it is so sweet!
I decided to do something not Halloween with this image because I just loved the closeness and love being displayed between the kitty and the witch.  So once again I paper pieced her dress and colored everything else in with my pencils.  I stamped a simple but perfect sentiment along the backside of the image.  It's just perfect!  I love the sweet little nose bump going on in the image!  Reminds me so much of my sweet little kitties :)

Just another fabulous release from Sami!!  Be sure to check out her website to join in our current challenge:  Halloween Colors
And visit her Etsy shop!!

Thanks for stopping by!!  <3

Choose Hope

Hello and Happy Monday!
Wet and soggy one here in Montreal this morning but that's ok.  We had some gorgeous weather all weekend!  It was perfect for getting together with friends yesterday to celebrate Thanksgiving (canada).

So we start a new challenge today at Paper Makeup and the theme is one that is quickly becoming my favorite -- Clean and Simple!  I think lots of people have different opinions of what clean and simple is.  To me, it's minimal layers with very few embellishments.  Simple :)
I really love this BCA ribbon from Paper Makeup and wanted to use it on my card this week.  It took me a little bit to figure out what layout I wanted to use, but once I worked that out, the whole thing came together super quick.

I colored up the image with my pencils and added some glitter pen so it sparkled.  The gems have been colored with a pink copic marker so they matched my color scheme.  Then I used one of the sentiments in the Faith Hope Love set that I felt had such a super awesome message.

The little border strip is punched with my MS Lace Edge punch and I embossed the top layer with the Swiss Dots folder.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Makeup Artists creations.  Then pull out your digi's and join in the fun!!

Hooters!

This weeks challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is all about Awareness!  With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, it's the common theme for these types of cards, and we make them to show our support for those that are struggling.

It's so hard to think of someone going through a life threatening battle...I admire them and their strength, but it saddens me to watch their struggle without being able to help in any way.  So I offer my support and I lift them up in prayer.

Our sponsor this week is Really Reasonable Ribbon, a perfect sponsor to have for this challenge.
Please forgive the not so perfect picture.  I'm still learning how to use my new camera and sometimes the lighting just doesn't work with it...

For my card, I used the adorable Save the Hooters image from Whimsie Doodles.  I bought this image last year and never got the chance to use it.  So I knew it had to go on this card!

I used some papers from the Little Darling Summer Sorbet collection and used my sewing machine around the edge (still need lots of practice with that...not sure why the corners are being rounded...).  Then I took a strip of wide white ribbon and pleated it across the bottom while running it through my sewing machine.  It turned out so awesome!  I'm very proud of that :)

I layered a light pink ribbon on the white, and then a strip of pink twine on top of that.  The button has been tied with the same pink twine and then I tucked the flagged sentiment in behind the button.

The fancy bra in the image has been covered with my glitter pen and some clear glitter so that it has lots and lots of sparkle.

Be sure to stop by and see the rest of the fabulous DT creations!  Then pull out your awareness ribbons and join in the fun!!

Lifes Greatest Comforts

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had an absolutely amazing weekend!  It was so gorgeous here!  Matthew and I had anniversary pictures taken by one of our awesome friends, went out shopping a little bit, and found the newly opened Target!!!  I'm so above and beyond excited that we finally have Target here in Montreal!  It's like the most perfect place to shop ever!  Lol :)

Anyhow, since it's Monday, that means it's time for a new challenge at Paper Makeup!!  This week's theme is Playing with Leaves!!  Perfect for this time of year with the leaves turning all those gorgeously bright colors and falling off to crunch under our feet.  I just love fall!
I did a little inspiration searching on the internet to come up with an idea for my card this week.  I didn't necessarily want to use one of the Paper Makeup fairies on my card (even though I love them), I wanted to really stick to the leaves theme.  And I saw several creations where they used a large leaf in the middle of the card as their focus image with a sentiment in the middle.  I love that idea, so set out to make it happen!

I used a couple of the leaves from the Color it Autumn set from Paper Makeup and printed off the large one big enough to fill my scallop circle.  Then I used a cotton ball and "sponged" ink onto the leaf to fill it with the appropriate fall colors.  I've never done that before, but love how it turned out!!

Once the leaf was done, I decided on a few colors for my roses, found my scraps and cut them all out.  Assembling them took forever, like always but I just love these roses so much that the assembly time is worth it :)  I did the same sort of "sponging" on the little leaves and tucked them under the roses.  Then made a double layer bow with my ribbon and tucked it into the arrangement.

The stamp sentiment is from the Wonderful Wishes set from Verve.  I thought it fit pretty well.  The fall season is comforting to me.  I haven't quite figured out why yet, but it just seems to calm my soul a bit more than the other seasons.

Be sure to stop by and check out the other Makeup Artists awesome creations!!  Then grab your fall supplies and a digi and join in the fun for your chance to win some gorgeous Paper Makeup images!!

Halloween Kitties

TGIF!!!!
The weather is nice and chilly, vacation creeps a little closer each day, and there's a new release at Sami Stamps for you to enjoy!!!

I am so in love with Sami's new images...they are just so adorable!  And perfect for this time of year!  Along with this release is also a challenge to use Halloween colors, which seems to be the only paper I have on my desk right now!  I love making Halloween cards and was thrilled to use Sami's images on these!
This new release just totally spoke to my heart.  I'm a kitty freak, I'd have way more than 3 if I had the space and my hubby let me :)  So when Sami announced her Halloween Kitties image release, of course, I wanted them all :)  But I stuck with 2 :)

This image is Halloween Kitty (which is the current freebie!!!)  I colored it all up with my pencils and added some glitter pen to the pumpkin and moon.  I wasn't entirely sure on how I wanted to do the layout until I did some inspiration searching online and saw a project that had a spiderweb as a window (I think it was for like a paper lantern...).  I knew instantly that I wanted to do that for this card!  So I pulled out some paper, sized up my web, and cut it out with my Silhouette along with a sweet little scallop frame.

All the edges are distressed with my scissors because I love that look on Halloween cards.  I made up a large paper button and covered it with glossy accents.  Then strung some orange twine along the side and through the button for a cut little bow, and attached a sentiment flag underneath.  It turned out so cool!  I just love this cute little kitty peaking out from behind the pumpkin!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Digi Darla's #82-Anything Goes w/Harvest Moon
    Penny's Paper-Crafty #147-Anything Goes
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #194
    V's Sweet Ideas #16-Halloween

I just love the cuteness of this next card!
This card uses the image Witch's Cat, and I just love it!!  How adorable is a little kitty sitting on a broom?!  I'm not very good at making spooky cards...I really tried with this card by adding clouds.  They were supposed to be all dark, grey, and gloomy...but instead they just turned out big and fluffy...so I stuck with more bright and cheery colors on the card.  It still turned out adorable though :)

I added a stripe of spider web washi tape under the image and trimmed around the design to give it a cool edge.  Then free hand cut some layered stars and stuck buttons in their centers before printing off and tucking a cute sentiment behind the large one.

Again, all the edges are distressed with my scissors :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see the rest of the design teams amazing projects!!  They did such a fantastic job with these images!  Love them all :)

And then join in this months challenge!  The theme is to use Halloween colors, and the only requirement is to use a Sami Stamps image!  Don't have a Sami Stamps image?  That's ok!  Visit the freebies section in her shop to see what she has available for you!!  It's that easy :)

Have a fabulous weekend loves!! <3
