Pretty in Pink

Happy Monday!!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  We did a little shopping, bought a new little camera!!  It had a pretty decent sale going on it so we checked it out, loved it, and bought it :)  I'm so excited!!

So today we start a new challenge at Digi Makeover!  With October just around the corner, and it being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we wanted to take a moment to show our support for those going through that awful struggle.  Our hearts and prayers go out to you!

We also have a second part of the challenge should making an awareness card be something you're not comfortable with (completely understandable!).  The second option is Pretty in Pink, so using pink as your dominant color!  Pink is always on the top of my list of colors when I craft.  Not really sure why as it isn't exactly my favorite color, but it always looks good with anything so I tend to reach for it the most.
And of course, pink looks fabulous with grey, so I went with those colors for my card this week!  I die cut a few ovals for my card and layered them up on some soft pink card stock.  The image I used is Emma from Paper Makeup Stamps.  I just love her!  She was the first image I ever received from Paper Makeup and I think she is still my favorite :)

I did a scallop cut frame around her with an "out of the box" technique on the umbrella/rain.  Everything is colored with my pencils and then glittered with my glitter pen.  I used a couple wood chip clouds from Freckled Fawn and covered them with some FF washi tape as well.

The sentiment I used is called Any One of Us from Paper Makeup.  I thought it had an encouraging message, as well as fitting with my image.

Then I just layered a few ribbons together with a bow and stuck a cute little button in the middle.  All done :)

I hope you will join us this week!  Be sure to use a digi and check out the rest of the makeup artists creations, they always have fabulous work!!

Thanks for stopping by! <3

Pumpkin Boo!

Happy Saturday!
Man, this fall weather is just awesome!  All the leaves are changing and falling off.  The days are nice cool and crisp.  I just love it!

So of course, it totally puts me in the Halloween mood.  I love Halloween, and thus love to make Halloween cards!  It instantly makes my favorite colors orange and black :)  I loved this freebie image from Birdie Brown, and decided to play a little with it this week.
Isn't that image so awesome!  Love those cute pumpkins!  I colored it all up with my pencils (shocker, no glitter added!!)  I cut out a spiderweb with my Silhouette and topped it with a fun purple button and my 2 flags.  The black flag behind my image is topped with some black washi tape I got from Freckled Fawn.

The last little bit of detailing I added was a few black dots in the corners.  They just completed the whole card!!

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a fabulous weekend!!! <3

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Little Love Bugs

I've been enjoying my craft room this week.  With the cooler weather, the cats aren't exploding hair quite as much, which means I can procrastinate on my cleaning duties a little bit longer and play more with my stuff!!

I received a couple of super cute images from Sami at Sami Stamps (go check her shop out!!  So many adorable images :) )  Decided to put them to use this week as I just love them!
This card idea came together almost immediately when I saw the sketch at Some Odd Girl.  With the height of this little critter, I felt the layout worked perfect!  I paired up some scrap papers that looked good together and used my Silhouette to cut out the circle frame.

Watched a few tutorials on how to properly color a heart (cuz my first attempt was horrible), and colored everything up with my pencils!  Of course, I had to add some glitter with my Wink of Stella pen...I'm sad it's almost empty!

The sentiment is also from Sami Stamps and worked so perfect with this LoveBug1!  A few liquid pearls and some red gems and it was all done!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Crafty Cardmakers #100-Winged Things
    Send a Smile 4 Kids-Anything Goes
    Simon Says-Anything Goes
    Totally Gorjuss #202-Dotty
    Word Art Wednesday #99-Anything Goes

This next card didn't quite work out how I wanted...the papers looked great together when I was picking them out, and then once the whole thing was put together...not so much...
But I still like it :)  The image is LoveBug2, colored in with my pencils (and of course some glitter pen).  I used a spellbinders die for the frame, and cut out the heart banner from a Silhouette cut file.

The sentiment banner is from a stamp set that I won from Damask Love.  It worked perfectly layered on top of the hearts!

Once again, a few liquid pearls in the corner and it was done!  I love my liquid pearls. They are so much easier than normal pearls, and I can make them any size I want!  They usually end up on every card because the bottle is sitting right in front of me on my desk and (like my glitter pen) I just naturally reach for it :)

Anyhow!  I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Color Me Creative #77-Anything Goes
    Designed to Color #20-Anything Goes
    Sketch Saturday #277
    That Craft Place-Things with Wings

Pirate Octopus

This weeks challenge at Tuesday Throwdown is one that I have been really enjoying lately.  We are challenging you to make a Clean and Simple card!

I don't really like cards that are smothered in stuff...they seem too busy to me and I like it when each of my embellishments is visible and plays a roll in the theme of the card.

So clean and simple cards have been super fun for me to try out!
Our fabulous sponsor this week is Whiff of Joy, and they provided us with some super cute images to use!  I chose to use the Octopus Pirate image.  With my husband working on the new Assassin's Creed game Black Flag, and us making some treasure chests for his coworkers, pirates have been a big theme in our household.  So it felt right to use this image.

I used a simple ocean floor background and colored it all in with my pencils.  Everything is printed onto one layer and mounted on a green background.

I added glossy accents and some glitter pen to the bubbles.  I've been really enjoying my washi tape lately, so I chose a green that matched and added a little stripe across the top before mounting the sentiment on top.  The sentiment is from Doodle Pantry.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Pattie's Creations #76-Animals
    Sassy Studio #195-Pirates

Stop by and check out the other DT creations.  They are pretty fabulous!!  Then pull out your crafty stuff and join in the fun! <3

Dream Big

Happy Monday!
Chilly one here this morning.  Had to pull out my big fluffy socks to keep my toes warm :)
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!

Today we start a new challenge at the Digi Makeover challenge blog!  After a tough one last week with motion cards, we're making it a little easier on you and going with Anything Goes!!  All you have to do is use a digi image and make whatever you would like!!

For my card, I decided to try and use up some scraps.  My pile is getting a little large...so large that I have multiple piles and now folders to hold it all.  I just don't use scraps all that often...maybe I should make that a goal :)
I really love how the multiple colors go together on this card.  The inking around the image is a little brighter than I thought it would be and doesn't quite match as nicely as it should...but I still love the card.

I used an image from the Dandy Wishes set and used my scallop scissors to cut a frame around it.  Then just cut up some matching paper flags and tied a little piece of twine around them.
I also won some awesome goodies from Freckled Fawn that arrived last week and decided to throw some of the new washi tape on there in the background.

The final touch was the stitching around the outside.  The card looked a little bare without it, like it needed a dark edge to contrast all the light colors.

I hope you will join us this week!  Be sure to visit all the makeup artists to see what they have made, since they always have such awesome creations!!  I'm sad that this week is Ardilla's last week with us...she will be greatly missed.  But I'm also excited to welcome AJ to our team!!  So go check them all out!!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafting with Dragonflies #11-Use Your Scraps
    Deconstructed Sketch #119

Bubble Fairy Release Day

Happy Friday!!  Woot woot!
I'm extra excited because today is release day at Sami Stamps!!  I just have to say that I love being a part of this team.  This is my first release as a new member of the team, and they have all just been such amazing teammates.  So incredibly talented.  I just love that!!

So today's release is called Bubble Bath Fairies!  You had me at bubble bath, but to add fairies in there makes these images so whimsical!  I had the joy of working with two of these sweet images.

This first one is called Fairy Boy Bath.  It's not often you think of boys when bubble bath comes to mind, but this image is just so sweet!
I just love him!  I paired him with some "boyish" papers and printed him out several times.  The whole scene is paper pieced together to give it lots of depth.  I printed all the inside bubbles on vellum and gave them some slight color with some ShinHan markers.  His wings are printed on some white shimmer paper and then I pieced his body together after coloring it up with my pencils.  The background of the bubble has a really light coat of white paint over it to help tone it down, so it felt more bubble like.  Then I cut it all out and covered it with a clear transparency!

The final touch was a few little stamped bubbles around the top of the card.  There was just a bit too much empty space up there.  So I stamped some circles (or the edges of the circles) in a shade of blue that matched my paper, and then outlined them with my Wink of Stella glitter pen :)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Crafts 4 Eternity #142-Cute Kids
    Creative Inspirations #232-Clean and Simple
    Try Stampin on Tuesday #136

This next image has so much grace and elegance to it, I couldn't resist using it!
This image is called Flower Bath.  I did the same sort of thing with this image.  Everything is paper pieced together to give it depth.  All the bubbles are printed on vellum and lightly colored.  I printed out the flower on some pink and green paper and then added shading with my pencils.  Her wings are again cut out of white shimmer paper but I added some glitter pen to them as well.

I used a sentiment from Ginger's House and cut it out with a spellbinders die cut.  Tucked it behind a large button tied with twine and it was all done!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Delightful Challenges-Buttons and Bows
    Divas by Design-Anything Goes
    Word Art Wednesday #98-Anything Goes

I'm so in love with these images, and I know you will love them too!  Check out the Sami Stamps blog for a fun freebie offer, and don't forget to join in the challenge we have going on!

Magical Christmas

It seems I have a ton of Christmas card ideas swirling around in my head right now...but I haven't been able to fully get them out onto paper yet.  It's a little frustrating!  Do you go through that?

Well, I finally tackled one today, and love how it turned out!
This sweet image was a freebie at Pollycraft named Pixie Holly and she is so cute!!  I flipped her for my card so she fit the layout a little better, and used the sentiment that came with the image as well.  She's all colored in with my pencils.  I added a bunch of stickles to her wings and then put little white paint dots around her along with a few sparkly dots.

I messed up a little on the sentiment.  I had seen a tutorial where someone had lightly swiped a light blue marker over the sentiment to help it pop.  It looked so cool, so I gave it a shot....and smeared my sentiment a little...oh well.  It still looks cute  :)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Leif Monster

Happy Monday!
We're starting a new challenge today at Digi Makeover.  It's a little bit of a tough one, but I know you can come up with something super awesome for it.  We're challenging you to make a motion card!  Include something on your card that physically  moves!

I had a lot of fun with this card.  I went through a lot of tutorials trying to decide what to make (splitcoast stampers has an awesome collection of tutorials for ya!!)
With the leaves changing and the temperatures drastically dropping, I decided to go with a fall themed card this week :)
It has been beyond forever since I made a shaker card...I think the first handmade Christmas card I ever made back in 2002 was a shaker card...and I haven't made one since...so this was so much fun to create!

I used the super fun Leif Monster image from Paper Makeup.  He's so fun, and perfect for fall/spooky cards.  I wasn't sure what sentiment to use with him, and almost decided not to add one, until I remembered this stamp and thought it would be perfect!  It adds a little bit of that spook without being too creepy :)  It's like a cute spook!

All the edges are distressed with my scissors.  I cut out a scallop frame with my Silhouette and then cut out the center for the shaker bubble.  I had no idea what to use for the shaker bubble when I started this card...I don't have those sort of things around very often since they aren't a common card for me.  But, being the scrappy crafter I am, I realized the packaging that my double sided tape comes in has this awesome bubble in the middle that would work perfect!  So I trimmed it out, and tada!  A shaker card :)

I cut out some of the leaves from the background paper to include in the shaker along with some red/brown/white beads.  It turned out so cute!!

I do hope you will join us this week!  Take the plunge and try something new!  You could win some adorable Paper Makeup images!!

Fly Free Little Birdies

Happy Friday!!!!
Chilly one here today in Montreal...strange after being in the 80's for the last couple of days.  But I love it!  And the leaves are starting to change!  So excited for fall, since it's my favorite season :)

So there's this fun little challenge that I just love!!  Mostly to look at though because the things those ladies come up with really blow me away.  It's call 10 Minute Craft Dash.  The idea is you get a color scheme and then you have 10 minutes to create a card using those colors.  Now, if you're anything like me...speed isn't a strength...I'm slow.  So the thought of trying to make a card (that I'm happy with and looks good) in 10 minutes sort of makes me panic.  But I wanted to try! (and try, and try, and...)

My first go around didn't work out.  I had my card all planned out and thought it was super simple!  Wrong...I stopped the clock after 11:30 and still wasn't done. (16 minutes later...)
But I wasn't giving up!!  So I reevaluated my stamp set and tried for something new...and succeeded :)  With only eight tenths of a second to spare (so basically it took me 10 minutes to make this card :) )
I. Just. LOVE! This card!  My birdie (from Lawn Fawn called Fly Free..(have I mentioned how obsessed I am with Lawn Fawn yet??)) is a little crocked...but that's ok.  I was shaking like a mad woman trying to get everything done.  The main thing I learned-use less adhesive.  Since I don't have the little rollers to quickly add adhesive, I have to cut it all up and then peel off the backs...too much work.  Less is better :)

I kept my edges clean, nothing fancy with them.  And thank goodness for die cuts and sweet little buttons :)

This color scheme is so super fun, I have so many more card ideas in my head!  Though, probably won't work for the 10 minute challenge :)  I can only handle so much of that sort of panic in one day :)

But I always love this challenge, and I do hope to keep pushing myself to participate and hopefully get better with my quick creativity :)  <3

I Made the Team!!

A few weeks ago I entered into a design team call at Sami Stamps with my Bored Kitty card.
I've seen Sami's images around a little bit and loved the light whimsical feel they had and thought it would be fun to use them on my cards and other creations.  I threw my hat in the ringer, took a chance against a lot of wonderful talent that had applied...and made it!!!

I'm so happy to announce that I am now a member of the Sami Stamps Design Team!! Woot woot!!  I'm so excited to be on this team with so many wonderful ladies, and the awesomely wonderful Sami!

To show my appreciation:
I used the sweet freebie image she has available now called Beautiful Song for You, and followed the sketch at Mojo Monday.  This was such a fun card to make!  I've been haveing a couple of rough weeks lately which has really been getting me down, so being accepted into this team really brightened my week!

Thank you so much Sami! <3

Smile!!

Back again today to share with you our new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!  It's a super popular one and I know all of you will want to join in!  It's Anything Goes!!  Woot woot!

Our sponsor this week is My Heart Pieces, and they have provided us with some cute images to use on our creations.
I used the Baby Bees image and colored it all in with my pencils, adding a little bit of glitter to their wings.

Not too many details with this card.  I stuck a little bit of pink ribbon behind a sweet little button in the lower corner, stamped a fun sentiment above the image and added a few liquid pearls underneath it.

I love the pink and brown colors together with the sweet little strawberries!  So cute!
Stop by and join in the fun this week!  We'd love to have you!  <3

The Most Beautiful Things in the World

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  I'm here to share our new challenge over at Digi Makeover!  This weeks challenge is a fun one:  Make Your Own Background!!

I watched a little tutorial over on Pinterest earlier last week and decided to give it a try.  It worked out alright...but I want to play around with different papers and see if I can get better at it all.
I don't know what the technique was called, but basically you cover the debossed side of an embossing folder with versamark and run your paper through your embossing machine.  The embossing ink will transfer to your paper in the non embossed areas, and you just cover it with your powder and heat it up!  It worked out pretty well for this card.  I think the texture of the paper made it difficult to get a good coating of the powder, but it still looks awesome.  I could see using this on so many of my embossing folders :)

I used a sweet sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps Color it Summer stamp set, and some butterflies from that same set.  I colored them in with my pencils and added some Wink of Stella glitter pen to the wings.  I'm so addicted to that glitter pen!  Best couple of bucks I ever spent :)

The sentiment is cut out with a spellbinders label and I wrapped a double layer of ribbon through the holes and tied it with a sweet bow.  Pretty simple, but so cute!!

Be sure to stop by and join in the fun this week with us over at Digi Makeover!!

Live in the Moment

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone is having a fabulous long weekend!  I'm home alone today as Matthew still has to work due to being in crunch mode for the end of his project...but I'll survive...I hope :)

Today starts a new challenge at Digi Makeover and it's Pearls and Lace!  I love using these two embellishments together, they are so elegant.  Of course, I have hardly any lace, and most of my "pearls" are now made with liquid pearls...but I still love the combo!
I used the super sweet Marissa Fairy on my card today.  She just looked so free spirited, dancing away.  I just loved that.  She's colored in with my pencils and I added glitter to her wings and some Wink of Stella to the stars and shoes of her outfit.

I used some Flamingo liquid pearls to add some swirls next to the image and in the corner...but I'm not too happy with how they turned out.  I've been wanting to come up with some sort of swirl template, but haven't taken the time to do it...and now I see that I really need one if I'm going to try and add swirls to my cards.

But the card is simple and cute, so I love it :)

Stop by and join in the fun!!  And be sure to check out the rest of the makeup artists fabulous creations...they will blow you away!
