God Made You Special

Happy Tuesday!
I'm back again with our new Tuesday Throwdown challenge!  This week our challenge is Gingham!  Now...honestly...I wasn't real sure what gingham was...had to look that one up.  Turns out it was so simple!  Then the problem arose that I didn't really have a wide selection of gingham (or plaid/stripped style) paper...my only real option was red.  So I had to work with that.
So here is what resulted:
Not too bad :)  I think it turned out more Christmas themed that what I really wanted it to be...the green ribbon I think is the cause of that...but it still is sweet :)

Our fabulous sponsor this week is Sweet n Sassy stamps!  I was fortunate enough to have just won a bunch of their wonderful stamps from Seems A Little Sketchy so I used one of my new images for this card.  It's called One of a Kind and is so adorable!  The birdie in the middle was suppose to be more pink than red so that he was a bit different than the other two...but it's hard to tell the difference.

I embossed the small panel under the image with one of my cuttlebug borders, and then trimmed around it so it has that scalloped edge.
The sentiment is also from that stamp set and I used my scallop scissors around the edge.

I do hope you will stop by and join in our challenge this week!  The prize is definitely worth it!

Thanks for stopping by!!

TGIF!!!!!
This week has just flown by!  Is it just me?  Not sure if it was the heat that made it go so fast or what...

Today's card was an instant idea that popped into my head when I saw the sketch at Sketches by Carly.  It was going to be perfect!  But after getting the base of it done, stuff just didn't seem to come together as nicely as I wanted...I was getting really frustrated!
The pocket went together perfectly!  I trimmed a little scallop piece to line the edge of the pocket.  The image is Celeste Amberglow-Heartstrings from Pollycraft Designs.  She's so adorable :)  I colored her in with my colored pencils and then cut her out with a Lacy Label shape.

Then stuff just stopped working...I couldn't come up with a good way to string the hearts...I had a different plan for the lower left corner instead of just another heart string...but what I made turned out not so good and didn't work into the card very well.

Then there is the other corner...I hadn't planned on putting just a corner bracket there...but again, nothing seemed to want to work there!
So while I do like how it turned out...it is definitely not as decked out and elaborate as I really wanted it to be...
But it's something different than just my normal A2 card...it's a pocket!
I even made a tag for the pocket!  The tag shape is from Tie the Knot.  I stamped the sentiment and added some paper and ribbon flags for added decoration.  I think the tag is awesome!  Just wish the rest of the card had read my mind and worked properly :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Sketches by Carly #59
    Digital Tuesday #165-Tag It
    Cardmadfairy's-Girly
    Cardz TV #11-Anything Goes
    Pattie's Creations #46-Monochromatic

Always on my Mind

Happy hot Thursday!  Just as toasty today as it was yesterday...not fun...
It's hard to put a card together when things slip out of your sweaty hands...or all the little paper frays stick to you...ugh...
But I muscled through it all...walked away a few times but came back to finish my card :)
This is my first time ever using Kraft cardstock!  I've never had any in my stock so I always just skipped over that option.  Well, I was rummaging through some of the garage sale goodies I got recently and what do you know!  Kraft!  I wasn't totally sure if I would like using it on my card...but it's so fabulous!  I love the brown and pink together!
I brought back my beloved Saturated Canary images for this card.  It's been so long since I used one!  Ok not really...maybe a week or so :)  But I was having withdrawals!
This is the sweet Canary Love image.  I've colored her in with my colored pencils and added lots and lots of glitter to everything!  I printed the birdie twice and cut one of them out so I could mount it with dimensional tape so it stuck out on the page.  Love it!
The roses are cut from the Flower Shoppe cartridge.  I love making these roses!  Rolling them up, watching them bloom, bending and softening the petals, adding glitter...a gem in the middle...so much fun!  Paper roses are about the only flowers I get to enjoy right now in my little apartment, so I get a little more joy out of making them than I probably should :)
See those sweet little hearts under the roses?  That's what I have been doing with a lot of my paper scraps!  I figure, I'm hanging onto these itty bitty pieces of paper...I should have a plan for them :)  So I have been using my little heart punch and punching out as many as I can from the scraps, then adding about 4 layers of plain white or black cardstock.  It makes them super durable and almost button-like.  So fun!

The cute sentiment is from Create with TLC.  Seriously love the sentiments they come up with.  There is always a perfect one to go with every card!

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Sweet Sunday Sketch #161
Bitten by the Bug 2-Rose Challenge
    Little Red Wagon #138-Get Krafty
    Paper Crafting Journey-Feeling Krafty
Stampin Sisters in Christ #144-Create Something that Reflects You (I think this whole card reflects me.  I love glitter, birds are always so sweet and remind me of my mom (massive bird lover there!), I explained my love for roses above, and I always have everyone I love on my mind.  Being so far away from my family and all the wonderful friends I made living in Seattle, and rarely hearing from them has been tough but I always have them on my mind and love them just the same.)

Thanks for stopping by!  I'd love it if you could swing on over and "Like" my Facebook page!  That would be so special and mean so much to me!

Forever

Back again to share another wonderful card!
I totally love this card!  Something about black and white colors for a wedding card...just seems so elegant :)
This card took some time but came together pretty quickly.  I cut the scalloped squares with my cricut using the New Arrival cartridge...that was the only cartridge I could find a square small enough on that would still look good!  Ok...I didn't search too hard through my stash...

The heart flowers are cut from the Sweethearts cartridge and then I added a rolled rose to the middles with a small pearl center.  I covered the petals and centers with glossy accents and then sprinkled clear glitter over that to make them sparkle.  The little squares are embossed with my Swiss Dots folder.

For the bottom panel, I embossed a black piece of card stock with D'vine Swirls then added my ribbon.  This is a ribbon I picked up intending to use it on the wedding invites I'm making, but after talking extensively with one of the Offray reps, discovered that it is not sold in bulk...ugh...so now I get to use it on my cards instead of the invites!
I added the little metal heart, which I picked up at a yard sale!  So perfect!

The Forever sentiment is cut from the Tie the Knot cartridge.  I covered the top layer in glossy accents and sprinkled it with glitter as well.
Lots of sparkle on this card.
The rings are cut from the Sweethearts cartridge as well.  I cut the diamond by hand out of some white glitter paper.  Then embossed the bands with several layers of silver embossing powder.  So perfect!  So happy with how it turned out :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Mojo Monday #246
    Bearly Mine #40-Flowers
    Ribbon Carousel #58-Heavy Metal
Divas by Design #40-To Die For

Sending You Love

Hello to everyone on this incredibly HOT Wednesday!  Good grief!  I cannot believe how hot it is here in Montreal!  It was like 80 by 9 this morning...totally crazy...I'm so glad we went and bought a little cheap window air conditioner for our bedroom last night...
While I like that it is warmer now, I don't like sweating while doing nothing...I keep remembering living in Seattle and still wearing sweaters at this time!  Crazy how different the weather is from one coast to the other.

Well...sharing a sweet card with you today!  Even in the heat I managed to work this darling up!
It was really fun making this card.  I did a lot of different die cut border layering in the background...more than I normally do and it looks so cool!
The sweet little image is Blue's Branch from Pollycraft Designs.  He's just so sweet, perfect for any occasion :)  I colored him in with my colored pencils and mounted him on a scalloped rectangle frame.  The flower was suppose to be more red, but I didn't want to start with the red, so I started the shading with pink and gradually made it darker.  I love it, even if it is pinker than I wanted :)
I layered 2 ribbons under the image (really hard to see...one red and one white)...then made a bow with the red, laced some cord through the eyelet on my tag and stuck it all down together.  The sentiment is a stamp from Cardz TV's Encouraging Thoughts set.

Then I made my flowers.  The large daisy is a cut file from Birds Cards.  I rolled it all up and stuck a little bead in the center.  I tried making a different type of filler flower for this card.  That would be the blue ones :)  They are 4 petal cuts that I inked all the edges on, then crinkled up.  I think they turned out pretty good.  I'll still have to play with making them to figure out exactly how I like them.  Then I rolled some of my own roses and arranged them all together.
I strung together a few gorgeous stick pins with some of my beads that I have with me now.  Then shoved those into the arrangement for added bling.
Surprisingly...no glitter! lol...
It's just such a sweet card.  I absolutely love how it turned out and how everything flows together so well :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Sketch Saturday #212
Cupcake Crafts #197-Something in the Eyelet

Some Bunny

Happy Tuesday!
That means it's time for another fun challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!!
This week we are challenging you to make a window card!  I admit...I always struggle with these.  The cuts never line up, I always have to trim stuff, and then I end up with little fuzzies and frayed ends...
But I dove into it anyhow this week :)
I think it turned out pretty darn cute!  Our wonderful sponsor this week is MyGrafico who has provided the DT with some fabulous images!  I used the adorable little bunny, colored in with my colored pencils and then added a little punched out heart to it's paws :)

The window frame is cut from the Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge.  I added little blue paint dots around the whole frame and in the corners.  Dug into my stash and found some matching roses that I had quilled up in the past and never used.  I thought they matched my paper colors pretty well, so added some green leafing to them and stuck them in the corner.

The sentiment is actually from Tiddly Inks :)  It was the right size and shape for my window!  I had to use it :)
Be sure to stop by and enter your window card at Tuesday Throwdown!  We'd love to have you :)

Baby Carriage

TGIF!!!  I hope your Friday has been fabulous!
Let me just take a moment and welcome all of my new followers!!  I can't believe I've hit the 50 mark!  Woohoo!  I'm so glad you are here, and I hope my work inspires you to go out and create something wonderful!

I also want to thank everyone that has stopped by my Facebook page and clicked the "like" button there!  I truly appreciate your love and support as I continue to draw awareness to my shop and build my business!

So Thank You to everyone!!! <3

The last few days I have been working a lot more with my cricut.  Seems over the last few months I have been drawn more to using images and other details on my cards, and leaving all the cartridges that I have just sitting in a container doing nothing.   So I pulled a few out this week and tried to get back into the cricut groove.
I must say it was a little tough.  I got so used to scanning through all the wonderful digital images I have and building around those...so to have to try and build a card around just die cuts was a lot trickier than I remember :)

But I think I pulled this card together pretty well :)  I used the New Arrival cartridge for almost everything on this card.  I love how the dark card stock really pops off the card with the light patterned paper on top of it.

For the banner, I cut out the squares and then glued them to the dark card stock.  Trimmed them to the size I wanted the banners to be and then cut the flagged ends.  The banners are then affixed with mounting tape to the card with the bows adhered at the ends.
The carriage is layered with a lighter pink card stock and a few white details.  I added a thin pink ribbon to the middle to jazz it up a little more.  The carriage is mounted on a layered frame cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  The white layer is then embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.
It's such an eye catching card.  I just love it!!

Father of the Year & Wedding

Happy Wednesday!

Even though I have all my Father's Day cards finished and mailed out, I'm still feeling that pull to make more :)  So I worked up a simple one today...and I'll just save it till next year!
I followed the sketch at Sentimental Sundays for this card.  Like I said, it's simple :)
The adorable image is from Pollycraft Designs called Cuthbert Car.  I think of my dad when I see this image...he's a self-employed mechanic.  I remember when he took a leap of faith and started his business.  He was an instant success and everyone loves him!

I printed off the sentiment and flagged the ends.  Then punched out some stars and added them to the staggered flags at the top, along with adding some red stickles so they sparkled.
This card is entered in the following challenges:
Sentimental Sundays #106-For a Special Guy
    The Pink Elephant-Masculine
Tammy's Scrapin Corner #14-For the Boys
    Celebrate the Occasion #66-Father's Day

Dream Valley #34-For that Special Guy
One Stitch at a Time #117-The Man in Your Life
Phindy's Place #109-Father's Day or Masculine

Wow...lots of Father's Day challenges :)

My next card is:
this beautiful bride/wedding card!  I loved putting this together!  I meant to put a sentiment on the front, but it looked so good without it :)
I used "Bride" from Saturated Canary...I'll be honest, this is my second version of her...my first attempt at coloring her in turned out awful!  She looked like she had a very very bad spray on tan! Lol...
So I tried again :)

I added some silver glitter accents to her dress...I meant for it to be more of a shimmer and not stand out quite so much but it didn't work out that way.
I cut the frame with my Lacy Labels cartridge and embossed the white with the D'vine Swirls folder.  The paper is from Dracula Cat on Etsy.  I bought it for some birthday invites I did a few months ago and just love this paper!  Every time I look at it, I think wedding...so I finally made a wedding card with it!

I cut out the corner details with my cricut, as well as the flower and added some white paint and tiny beads to the center!
This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Tuesday Morning Sketches #150
Daisy Doodles #61-Here Comes the Bride

Best Day

I completely spaced on creating my post for yesterday's new Tuesday Throwdown challenge!!
It was on my mind all day, but I kept distracting myself by looking at other peoples blogs, and ideas, and Pinterest...and I completely forgot!

So this weeks Tuesday Throwdown challenge is Critters!
Our sponsor for this week is the lovely Heart Song Designs.  So many cute images there!  I have used the image Ana & Flower for my card.  Colored in with colored pencils.

I cut the flower and leave foliage out with my cricut and layered them together.  The center of the flower is a large black brad that I heated with my heat gun and then dipped into yellow embossing powder over, and over, and over.  You can still see a little of the black on the edges...I couldn't seem to get it to thicken no matter how many layers I added.  But it still turned out cool and is a great embellishment for the card.

The sentiment is a sweet one from Create with TLC that I trimmed into a tag and tucked behind the flower.
I hope you will join us this week at Tuesday Throwdown!  Such a fun challenge and a great prize!

Bless Your Heart

I hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!  It was incredibly hot here in Montreal...looks like summer has arrived!  It almost makes it too miserable to craft, move, or do anything at all...
But I made it through :)  Gotta love fans and AC :)

I was so excited when the mail lady came today!  She delivered to me a wonderful new stamp set that I won from Cardz TV!  I just couldn't wait to start using them :)
I don't have a lot of rubber stamps, just not something that I purchase very often.  So most of my sentiments and images are digital stamps.  But I always looonnnggg to have just simple little sentiment stamps that will fit practically anywhere and be perfect for any card.  Well, I must say I am loving the stamps I got today.  It's the Encouraging Thoughts set and it has just about everything!  While most of it could be geared toward sympathy cards, they are almost all versatile!  I love that!  So I used the "Bless your Heart" stamp and paired it with Ava Heart from Bugaboo Stamps.

She's all colored in and glittered out :)  I added glossy accents to almost all the hearts on this card.  The hearts in the image have clear glitter sprinkled on top of the glossy accents.
The frame is cut with my cricut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I also cut out the swirl and hearts with my cricut.  The smaller heart at the bottom is layered 5 times to create a "button", then I glued the swirl to the back and adhered the bow to the front.

The corner panels are embossed with my swiss dots folder.

Birthday Ava

Hello to everyone on this wonderful Saturday evening.
After a week of simple cards, I buckled down and went all out today...or I tried :)
I really had wanted/expected to add more to this card, but once I put the roses on, I knew it didn't need anything else.
This adorable image is a freebie from Krista at Saturated Canary called Ava.  Such a cute party image.  I colored her in with my colored pencils and added some glitter to her ruffles and balloon.  Then cut her out and mounted her on a scallop die cut.
I inked the edges of everything in a soft pink to help it all meld together.  I hand wrote the sentiment because the stamp I wanted to use wouldn't fit...so I tried to mimic it as best I could.  Turned out pretty good.  Could have been a bit straighter :)

I cut out the roses with my cricut, chalked the edges in pink and then quilled them together.  I added some glitter glue to the edges so that they also sparkled.  Gotta love glitter :)
The last touch was the corner rounds which I added a large pearl to the centers.
It's pretty much perfect.  The soft green and pink mesh perfect together.  Ava is so cute nestled in a bed of roses.  It has layers and details that haven't been on any of my cards this week.  I love it!

Paradise Home

Happy Thursday!
I'm going to share 2 cards with you today.
Seems I'm in a simple card phase right now...haven't been doing a lot of elaborate cards this week...

This first card came to mind when I was scanning my challenge list and saw a photo inspiration at Stamptacular Sunday of a beautiful beach!
The image is Cali Girl from Saturated Canary!  I was able to snag her at a great price when Krista was having her "moving shop" sale!  She seemed perfect for this card :)

Everything on this card is cut with my cricut!!  First time I've done that in quite awhile.  The palm trees and Paradise sentiment are from the Life is a Beach cartridge, the starfish are from the Create-a-Critter cartridge, the waves are a cut file from Bird's Cards, and the hibiscus is from the Hibiscus font!!  Oh and the frame around miss Cali is from the Lacy Labels cartridge.
I used my colored pencils and added detailing to the palm trees and the star fish...they were pretty flat without it :)  I colored in my image with my pencils as well.  Like I mentioned in a previous post, I'm not very good at skin yet...I keep practicing but can't seem to get it right...and trying to get a tanned skin color is even harder...but I did the best I could and I think it turned out pretty good :)
I used my white gel pen and added some small details around the hibiscus and the waves.  Then added some gold paint dots in the corners!

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Stamptacular Sunday #166-Photo Inspiration
    Alota Rubber #84-Sketch
    The Pink Elephant #151-Vibrant Colors
    Raise the Bar #107-Hello Summer
The Squirrel and the Fox #19-Winter or Summer

My next card is super simple...but it came together really quick!
I've had this birdhouse image in my folder forever (can't remember where I got it from), and I just love it but never used it!  So with "new home" coming up on my rotation of topics, I decided to finally use this image!
It's colored with my pencils.  I colored them all in brown first and then went over the brown lightly with a blue on the 2 houses on the left.  I think it gave them a cool warn look.  All the papers are from my scrap stash..I just LOVE using up those pieces...my stash of them is getting a little out of control :)

Not many details to this card..like I said...simple! :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Try Stampin on Tuesday #69-Sketch
    Digital Tuesday #163-Anything Goes
    The Paper Shelter #67-Going Dotty
Pixie Dust Studio #130-3 or More Patterned Papers

Robot Dad

Hello to everyone on this gorgeous Wednesday!
Sharing a simple Father's Day card with you today.
It's not very fancy...pretty clean cut but still super cute :)
I followed the sketch at Die Cuttin Divas for this card.  They require a die cut to be used on your card, and while I'm not sure if this will count, I cut the circles for my buttons out with my cricut :)  I don't have a circle punch and I'm horrible at cutting circles properly...so the only way for me to get them is to use my cricut!
I decided to try a 4 hole button instead of the usual 2 that I do.  It made them more unique and added that extra touch with the crossed cord and double strings running behind the image!
The cute robot is a digital stamp from Pollycraft Digital Stamps who, sadly, is closing up shop this Friday.  She has some great bundle deals going on right now so swing on over there and check out what she has!
I colored in my robot image with colored pencils and added some white detailing with a gel pen.

I made the inside of the card just as simple.
The sentiment is from Sunshines Creationz.  I trimmed the edges to make it a flag and then layered another flag behind it.

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Die Cuttin Divas #68-Sketch
    Pattie's Creations #45-Father's Day

Queen of Hearts

Happy Tuesday!!
I'm back with another post today...actually this is my "first" for today as the post below was a scheduled post (first time doing that!  Glad it worked properly :) ).  It's quite a wonderful post actually.  You see, I was contacted by Davi at Tuesday Throwdown asking if I wanted to join their Design Team!!!!  Of course, I said yes :)  So my earlier post is my project for my first week on their design team and I'm thrilled to have that opportunity!  It's a great post, you should go read it :)

So today's card of course, is another image from the heart melting Saturated Canary line.  Is it bad that all I want to do is make cards with these images?  I don't want to use any others...just these...I love them so much!
This card is more stunning than I ever anticipated it to be!  While the queen of hearts is usually red...I couldn't seem to get any red papers to match up well enough...and when the striped paper printed, it ended up being more purple than red...so I went with purple!  It has this royal elegance to it that just blows me away!

So this image is Queen of Hearts by Saturated Canary.  Quite the queen she is!  I colored her all in with my colored pencils.  I took quite a bit more time coloring her in as I tried to do a lot more shading with her outfit.  I took pointers from other works of art on the internet.  It was so fun going a little deeper and working a little more to make the image really pop.
Ok that was a bad picture...sorry :(

The frame and heart flourish were cut with me cricut from files I created.  I cut out some hearts to go on the flourish and then covered them in glitter, along with adding some glitter to the hearts on the image.  The panels behind the image are cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge and layered with purple.

I added a matching ribbon and bow across the top behind the image and then 6 purple pearls in the corners for added bling.

This card is entered in the following challenges:
    Seems A Little Sketchy #14
    Paper Pretties-Use Bling
    Stamps & Fun=Creativity #102-Bling Bling
The Cuttlebug Spot-Fit for a Queen

Friendship

I have some absolutely fabulous news for you!
Remember in April when I was the guest designer at Tuesday Throwdown?  Weelllll....Davi contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I wanted to join their Design Team!!!!!
How super awesome is that??!!!  I am so excited!  This is another "out of my comfort zone" steps and I'm so excited to be given this opportunity!  I hope that it will open more doors for me and encourage me to keep stepping out!

So today's card and this weeks challenge is "Friendship!"  I love making friendship cards, they can be for any occasion, any reason and to anyone!
Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish who has provided the DT with some adorable images!  I have used Primitive Bear on my card...such a cute little image.

I printed it out and colored it in with my colored pencils.  I then cut around the image and added it to a scallop frame that I cut with my cricut and embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.

Then I typed up and printed out the sentiment, layered it onto another white piece of card stock, cut around the sentiment with scallop scissors and then added blue stickles to the scallops to give it a little more detail.  I cut out and layered a bunch of little tiny hearts and added glitter to the tops of those as well before sticking them in the top corners of the card.
Be sure to stop by Tuesday Throwdown to check out all the wonderful DT creations and to join in our "Friendship" challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Cupcake Day!

Hello Everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend!  It was pretty calm here for us, which is always nice :)

I have been working on getting a facebook page set up for Scrappy Sweet Creations and I am happy to say that it is done!  I got my last confirmation today through Networked Blogs and have set it up so any new blog post I make will link directly to facebook!  I'm so excited!  So if you have a facebook page, here is my link:

I'd LOVE to have you "like" my page and keep up with new Etsy items and blog posts!!!

Ok back to today's card :)
I was so sad to read this weekend that Tickled Pink Stamps will be closing.  I won a few digi's from them awhile back and thought they were just so cute.  So to honor them, I decided to use one of those digi's in my card today.
This is Lil Pinkette Coraline from Tickled Pink Stamps.  I loved this digi when I first saw it!  Something about cupcakes...

I printed her off and colored her in with my colored pencils and added some glitter around her apron.  The frame is cut from my Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge, but to get the little tab on the left side, I welded 2 of the frames together and then lined them up properly to fit the image and sentiment.  I think it turned out so cute!  It probably would have looked better if I had cut the tab out separate and tucked it behind the image, but I wanted to try including it to see how it would look.  Yeah, still cute :)
The flower and flourish are cut out with my cricut as well.  I layered up the flower and put a pearl in the center, along with placing pearls in the corner and on the side of the image.
I added a thin little pink ribbon and bow under the image to add a little more girly touch to the card :)

It's such a cute card.  Pretty simple, but still cute!  :)
